Waiau falls Coromandel
Waiau Falls
Found close to the road side 7km into the famous 309 gravel road that connects the east and west side of the Coromandel peninsula, it's also the shortest route between the two sides, just keep in mind it is a very winding road with loose gravel, I do recommend going slow, take your time and enjoy the scenery it offers. The Waiau Falls is a very popular swimming hole and is surrounded by lush native bush.

???????? Waiau Falls and Kauri Grove Lookout - Coromandel, New Zealand ????????
NZ Parks and Recreation Link:
Beautiful waterfall and peaceful swimming pool at Waiau Falls - Coromandel, New Zealand in 2013. We drove around Coromandel and stopped for an unexpected trip at this waterfall. It was an amazing experience to travel and relax near the waterfall. My husband climbed the rocks to get a closer look. It's possible to go swimming in the natural pool of water, and it's just a quick walk to the waterfalls from the car. It's a beautiful and natural spot in New Zealand. Highly recommended for any adventure travel you might take in New Zealand. (Recorded in 2013)

Coromandel Peninsula - Waiau Falls (309)
Kauri Grove Coromandel
Situated on the Coromandel peninsula
The Kauri Grove Lookout Walk is only 1km up the road from the popular Waiau Falls along the 309 gravel Road.
This walking track is only 30min return and takes you through the most accessible and mature stand of Kauri trees on the peninsula and also features a ‘siamese’ Kauri which forks just above the ground.
As with all Kauri walks, please clean your gear before and after your walk.

How To Hot Water Beach New Zealand 4K
Slowing things down we got to the infamous must see Hot Water Beach. Rated as one of the top ten beaches in the world. You dig yourself a pit down to the hot rocks below, they heated your dug pool up to 60°C! This place was free and magical! Then our journey took us to our first summit walk at The Pinnacles, coming next!
We’re in New Zealand for a year and more videos showing our backpacking adventure are on the way. This is the start of a vlog of our walking and hiking journey over the incredible natural beauty NZ

A REAL Hot Water Beach in New Zealand by the The Flip Flop Travelling Family
CHECK OUT OUR 6 MONTHS OF TRAVEL VIDEO HERE
Visiting Hot Water beach on the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand certainly is a unique experience. It's one of the most popular geothermal attractions in NZ because of its underground hot springs. You can take advantage of this natural hot water in between low and high tide.
Bring your own spade or hire one by the beach car park, walk on down and dig yourself your very own spa! It's as simple as that, it's a free activity for the entire family but do be careful as the deeper you dig, the hotter the water gets.

Coromandel, New Zealand - Driving in and around
Just so viewers can get a taste of what the little town of Coromandel looks like, the town in New Zealand, I filmed the city streets with my GoPro7 Camera as I drove through it twice. Enjoy! This was December of 2018.

2018 12 11 NZ North Island - Coromandel Peninsula
Hahei, the place where permanently lives just 270 people, but in summer population grows up top 7000! Legendary kiwi beach just off the Cathedral Cove which could be reached by nice 70-80 minutes stroll and where is gigantic stone arch. On the way is Gemstone Bay perfect for snorkelling and sandy Stingray Bay. Amazing place with perfect cool water to swim and chill out during hot day. Just like from postcard :)
Another wonder just 20 minutes drive from Hahei is the famous Hot Water Beach where for two hours either side of low tide you can access an area of sand in front of the rocky outcrop in the middle of the beach where hot water oozes up from beneath the surface. I mean really hot, almost boiling water! That means only one thing - take a spade (or hire one in one of nearby restaurants for $10 or just for $5 if you are good in haggling :P), dig a hole and voila - you have your own personal spa. Well, not just you - couple hundreds of people next to you too, but what a fun it is :)
We were truly enjoying time in both places which are peaceful and beautiful and gave us first taste of adventure which was waiting for us! Not only those places, but also Egan Park where we were camping overnight, just next to crystal clear river, with perfect rain forest with massive ferns around us, which looks like trees from dinosaur era. It is perfect to be woken up by singing birds and luckily not tyrannosaurus rex roaring next to our camper :P
