Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin and the fifth-largest city in the Midwestern United States. The seat of the eponymous county, it is on Lake Michigan's western shore. Milwaukee is considered a Gamma global cityas categorized by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network with a regional GDPof over $105 billion.
The first Europeans to pass through the area were French Catholic Jesuit missionaries, who were ministering to Native Americans, and fur traders. In 1818, the French Canadianexplorer Solomon Juneau settled in the area, and in 1846, Juneau's town combined with two neighboring towns to incorporate as the city of Milwaukee. Large numbers of Germanimmigrants arrived during the late 1840s, after the German revolutions, with Poles and other eastern European immigrants arriving in the following decades. Milwaukee is known for its brewing traditions, begun with the German immigrants.
Beginning in the early 21st century, the city has been undergoing its largest construction boom since the 1960s. Major new additions to the city in the past two decades include the Milwaukee Riverwalk, the Wisconsin Center, Miller Park, the Milwaukee Streetcar, an expansion to the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and Pier Wisconsin, as well as major renovations to the UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena. The Fiserv Forum opened in late 2018.

A Walk Down State Street, Madison, Wisconsin, Sans Music
State Street is a pedestrian zone located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, United States, near the Wisconsin State Capitol. The road proper extends from the west corner of land comprising the Capitol (at the corners of Carroll and Mifflin Streets) westward to Lake Street, adjoining the campus of the University of Wisconsin–Madison at Library Mall.
The street was a conventional four-lane undivided road until 1974, when a proposal was passed by the City of Madison to turn it into a pedestrian mall. Construction on that project began in late June, 1974, with an initial estimated completion budget of $15 million. This conversion left the street as a two-lane limited-access road, with extra-wide sidewalks created on both sides of the now-narrower street. The east–west road allows only city buses, fire apparatus, police cars, bicycles, delivery vehicles, and pedestrian traffic.
Today, the street hosts a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants and is popular for its small-town appeal, street musicians, jugglers and other types of busking, making it a common tourist attraction. Like high-pedestrian-traffic streets in many cities' downtowns, it also has a noticeable homeless, vagrant, and panhandler population. Places of interest on State Street are the Overture Center for the Arts and the Memorial Library Mall.
A Walk Around MKE - Milwaukee International Airport
General Mitchell International Airport ( MKE) is a county-owned, joint civil-military, public airport located five miles south of the central business district of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It is named after United States Army Air Service General Billy Mitchell, who was raised in Milwaukee and is often regarded as the father of the United States Air Force. Along with being the primary airport for Milwaukee, Mitchell International has sometimes been described as Chicago's third airport, as many travelers in the suburbs north of Chicago use it as an alternative to Chicago O'Hare and Chicago Midway. It is also used by travellers throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. An Amtrak railway station opened at the airport in 2005; the station is served by Amtrak's Hiawatha Service line running between Chicago and Milwaukee several times daily. Since March 1941, the airport's weather station has been used as the official point for Milwaukee weather observations and records by the National Weather Service, whose area office is located in Sullivan.
General Mitchell International Airport covers an area of 2,180 acres (880 ha) which contains five asphalt and concrete paved runways ranging in length from 4,183 to 9,690 ft. The 07R/25L runway has an overpass with Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 38 (Howell Avenue locally) running underneath. For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2005, the airport had 219,114 aircraft operations, an average of 600 per day: 56% air taxi, 32% scheduled commercial, 10% general aviation and 1% military. The main building houses the Mitchell Gallery of Flight, a non-profit museum on the concession level; the usual retail outlets, including a small food court; and a branch of Renaissance Books which is believed to be the world's first used book store in an airport. An observation lot along the northern edge of the airport is open to the public, and tower communications are rebroadcast using a low-power FM transmitter for visitors to tune in on their car radios There is also a new lot located on 6th street. A Wisconsin historical marker documenting the airport's history is also located there. In 2008, airport security designated a Recombobulation Area in Concourse C. The airport has a wide range of food options and shops.

One of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America - N. 27th St. Milwaukee Wisconsin
This area has been rated one of the 25 most dangerous neighborhoods in America. North 27th Street South of North Ave down to the Menomonee Valley. The crime rate and amount of drug use and trade here is huge. Also this may be the most densely populated neighborhood in the city.

A street tour around downtown Milwaukee.
Milwaukee, USA: In Motion!
We spent five days in Milwaukee in May 2016, and were completely (and very pleasantly) surprised by how cool Milwaukee is!
If we had to come up with one word to describe Milwaukee, it'd definitely be entrepreneurial. We met a lot of small business owners who are changing the face of the city, and we also learned about the big Milwaukeean dynasties like Pabst and Miller that built the city in centuries past.
In this video, the locations you see are as follows:
The Milwaukee River and riverfront/riverwalk in downtown -- on weekend evenings, Milwaukeeans jump on their boats and cruise up and down the river. We grabbed a beer at Rock Bottom Brewery and watched it all happen!
A view of downtown Milwaukee as seen from the 6th Street Viaduct. In the bottom left-hand of the shot, you can see the Harley-Davidson Museum, which is a cool thing to do in Milwaukee, even if you don't like motorcycles. We also suggest you stop by the Great Lakes Distillery, for drinks and a tour near the viaduct, and the Iron Horse hotel for food!
The historical-looking building is Milwaukee's City Hall, and the really cool-looking modern building is the Art Gallery.
Around 0:22, you'll see Old World Third Street. It's the historical German area of town, and even today there are many German restaurants and artisan food producers that have been operating in the same spot for more than 100 years! We took a food tour with Milwaukee Food Tours, and learned all about the German influence on Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is synonymous with BEER, and one of the best things to do in Milwaukee is to go on a brewery tour. We went on the Miller tour, which was FREE and included samples. We also went on the Lakefront Brewery Tour - one of the best (and funniest) in the country. The Lakefront tour charges, but is very worthwhile, and includes free samples, a free gift, and some hilarious memories!
Other locations include:
The Bronz Fonz
The Harley-Davidson Museum
Milwaukee Public Market
Bayview Neighborhood
The Pabst Mansion
Walkers Point
The hotel at the end is the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, where we were hosted. The hotel is quite new, and was built for visitors to the city, and visitors to the casino. It's really well located for visiting the Harley Museum...only a short walk away.
Thanks to Visit Milwaukee for hosting us during our time in Milwaukee. We had a tonne of fun.
