Vacationing in Washington State - Riverfront Park, Wenatchee
We visited a delightful area in Wenatchee, Washington called Riverfront Park. There is a fun place there called Pybus Market, a farmer's market featuring produce, crafts, and restaurants. There is also a leisurely walkway that winds alongside the Columbia River. Here are some shots I took along the way.
Museum Tour: Shelton, Washington; mostly lumberjack stuff and weird things
There are a few things here that I never seen before.
SOLD!!! Sunshine Fields, Maxwelton, WV
SOLD!! This attractive 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath brick ranch is surrounded by 53 acres of prime Greenbrier Valley farmland, a picture-perfect family farm that could just as easily serve as a private retreat for non-farmers. Nestled in the hills north of Lewisburg in the community of Maxwelton, the property is approximately 75% open pasture and 25% woodland, partially fenced for livestock, and includes a barn.
A private country road skirts an open field, passes a barn and a sheep shed, and leads to a large circular driveway in front of the home, where the mature landscaping includes birch trees, boxwoods and rhododendrons.
Decorative storm doors protect the double front doors from the weather. A tiled entry leads into a carpeted living room with an eye-catching stone fireplace and wood mantel, and picture windows overlooking the expansive back yard and rolling countryside.
The kitchen features plenty of solid wood cabinetry, laminate countertops, a built-in desk, a stainless steel double sink with a pot-filler, and Kenmore appliances: an electric range with a hooded vent, a refrigerator-freezer, and a dishwasher. There is a breakfast nook in the kitchen in addition to the formal dining room adjacent to the kitchen and living room.
An exit from the kitchen leads to a laundry area with a Maytag washer and dryer, a half-bath, and a double garage.
Bedrooms are located in a separate wing, accessed by a hallway lit by scalloped wall sconces. The first bedroom has an oak floor, a ceiling fan and a private deck. The second and third bedrooms, as well as the large main bedroom have wall-to-wall carpeting. Two tiled baths with tile floors are accessed from the hallway. The first features a separate shower and soaking tub. The second has a shower/tub combo, and a unique resin countertop with embedded seashells.
Kolbe and Kolbe crank-out casement windows are used throughout the 2300-square foot home. The windows are hinged at the side, affording excellent ventilation, with screens located on the interior.
The home has central heat and air conditioning, and is heated by an electric heat pump, newly installed in December 2014.
The property borders an area north of the Greenbrier Valley Airport where housing developments end and farmland begins. While neighbors can't be seen or heard, the location isn't remote, and shopping and services are only a few minutes down the road.
If operating a farm isn't too time-consuming, there are plenty of recreational and cultural offerings in the Greenbrier Valley. The 75-mile long Greenbrier River Trail is popular with hikers and bikers, and easily accessed from numerous points in the area. Showshoe Ski Resort, the largest ski resort in the Middle Atlantic states, is 1½ hours up the road.
Lewisburg, only a 10-minute drive away, is often called one of America's best small towns, with shopping, fine dining, a lively arts scene, two annual food-themed festivals, a literary festival, and a year-round schedule of community activities. The State Fair of West Virginia, a classic country fair with rides, exhibits, concerts and livestock competitions, takes place in Greenbrier County every August.
The historic Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, a 10,000-acre world-class luxury resort, has restaurants and shops open to the public. The resort hosts an annual PGA tournament in July, and serves as the summer practice facility for the NFL's New Orleans Saints.
Country roads can take you home to Sunshine Fields, a beautiful farm in a peaceful setting.

Time Lapse: Snohomish, WA
This time lapse was primarily shot at Glacier Peak High School. The school overlooks the Snohomish Valley toward the Cascade Mountains, making for a beautiful view. The barn was shot from Airport Way. The scene featuring the lone tree in the field at sunset was shot along Springhetti Road.
All scenes were shot during evenings in June of 2013.

Visit Tri-Cities: The Heart of Washington Wine Country
The Tri-Cities, made up of the cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, lies at the heart of Washington States Wine Country. We are located in the hub of the Columbia Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) where 99% of all of Washingtons wine grapes are grown. In fact, Benton County (home to Kennewick, Richland, Benton City, and Prosser) was recently named the largest grape growing region in the state of Washington. We truly offer visitors the opportunity to sample wines made from grapes grown in the area, a chance to roam through vineyards, and meet the winemakers and owners at more than 160 wineries within an hours drive. We have a number of wineries that offer eco-friendly wines, the first vineyard to be Certified Organic by Washington State Department of Agriculture, the oldest family-owned winery in the state sits in Pasco (also home to the Pacific Northwests largest corkscrew collection), and Washingtons first barrel caves were built on Red Mountain, just five minutes from Richland. There are great opportunities to experience the wineries during festivals throughout the year. Local wineries open up their doors to pair dark chocolate with their favorite red wine during Red Wine & Chocolate in February; visitors can preview and sample wineries straight from the barrels during Spring Barrel Tasting in April; and its always an experience to celebrate the bounty of harvest, see how wines are made, and participate in your very own grape stomp during Catch the Crush weekend in September. Most wineries are open year-round, offering free tastings to their visitors. And if they dont, most will waive the tasting fee with the purchase of wine.

How to Grow Watermelon
Watch more Seeds & Planting videos:
If you love to bury your face in a cold slice of watermelon on a hot summer day, learn to grow them in your own backyard.
Step 1: Start indoors
Start your seedlings indoors, especially if you live in a cooler climate. Plant two to three seeds per pot and choose the healthiest seedling for transplantation.
Tip
For best results use peat pots that can be transplanted whole without uprooting and potentially traumatizing your seedling.
Step 2: Give space
Give your watermelons space to grow. Seed hills in a row, and space the rows 7 to 10 feet apart. If you don’t have that much room, consider a smaller bush variety.
Step 3: Plant
Plant your seeds or seedlings outdoors after the last frost. Plant one to two seedlings per hill, or thin your plants to this number once they have taken root.
Step 4: Feed well
Feed your watermelon plants with fertilizers rich in nitrogen early in their growth, followed by fertilizer rich in phosphorous and potassium after flowers have formed.
Step 5: Water if necessary
Water your watermelons only when necessary, such as during a prolonged dry spell.
Step 6: Protect
Protect your plants and their roots by aggressively weeding with a shallow hoe. Stave off cucumber beetles and other pests with appropriate pesticides.
Tip
Use black plastic as mulch in your watermelon rows to reduce weeds and keep your plants warm and moist.
Step 7: Harvest
Harvest your melons after 75 to 100 days. Signs of ripeness include yellowing on the underside, a dulling of the overall color, resistance to thumbnails on the rind, and browning of the stems near the fruit.
Did You Know?
Some varieties of watermelon can grow to over 200 pounds.
Vintage Television Commercials - 1980s - Part 1
This is a compilation of mostly national television ads that aired during the early and mid-1980s. They originate from off-the-air VHS recordings.
Some of these spots are masterpieces. They provide a glimpse into an era of TV broadcasting when the commercial breaks often were as interesting and well produced as the programs they interrupted.
