Lake Bogoria & Lake Baringo Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about nature park Lake Bogoria & Lake Baringo in East-Africa.
In addition to their scenic beauty both Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo contain some of the most fascinating biotopes in the Great Rift Valley, a nine thousand kilometre long fissure in the Earth’s surface extends from the Lebanon to Mozambique and then across Kenya in East Africa. The Great Rift Valley originated around two hundred million years ago and the volcanic activity in the region is still active.Twenty kilometres north of Marigat is Lake Baringo, a unique biotope. The crystal-like surface of the lake fascinates in so many ways. Due to its abundance of fresh water Lake Baringo is an important habitat for numerous plants and wildlife. The purity of the lakes plays a vital role in creating the wonderful vegetation that is to be found in this region and the idyllic landscape around Lake Baringo boasts an impressive variety of vegetation and more than four hundred different species make Lake Baringo one of the most popular bird spotting areas in Kenya. The legendary Lake Bogoria is situated almost a thousand metres above sea level and is well known for its large numbers of flamingos which are a breathtaking sight. The famous geologist and scientist, John Walter Gregory, praised the spectacle of these flamingos as, “The most fascinating sight in Africa”. However, despite such praise Lake Bogoria is still more a place for an interested few rather than those who are keen to explore Kenya’s more popular tourist destinations. The pink flamingo can grow to a height of one point fifty metres and is mainly monogamous. How it can distinguish its partner from the other birds of the huge colony is an enigma! These elegant water birds are not only loyal partners they also take great pride in their appearance as each flamingo spends much of the day tending to its beautiful feathers. It must now only be a matter of time until both lakes in the north of the Great Rift Valley attract more tourists who will seek out the fascinating delights of these remarkable natural reserves. Until then both Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria will remain an untouched paradise for the wildlife that graces their shores.

14 Most UNUSUAL HOTEL Rooms You Won’t Believe Exist
14) Liberty Hotel, Boston
Nobody has to commit a crime anymore to earn the privilege of staying at Boston’s legendary Liberty Hotel, which once was the home of the Charles Street jail, whose inmates once included Malcolm X and Boston’s ex-mayor James Curley. Constructed back in 1851, the jail, which sits right in the heart of Boston’s Beacon Hill, closed its doors due to overcapacity in 1990. In 2007 it was changed into a 298-room high-end dwelling, which still contains parts of the original structure. Eat inside the remains of the old jail cells at the hotel’s restaurant, Clink, and have yourself a drink at Alibi, which is a bar that once acted as the jail’s tank.
13.) KOKOPELLI’S CAVE, FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO
Named after a flute-playing illustration carved into rocks thousands of years ago by Native Americans throughout the Southwest, Kokopelli’s Cave is a isolated, multi-room bed-and-breakfast 300 feet above the La Plata River Valley. Guests walk up the stairs to the entrance 70 feet below the mesa top, and soon discover a 1,700-square-foot circular cavern that was shot right out of the rock by geologist Bruce Black, who first thought the location would be his office. But he ended up turning it into a B&B complete with a Jacuzzi and waterfall shower, a full kitchen, living room equipped with a fireplace, and a bedroom with a balcony that looks over the vast desert landscape below.
12.) Wigwam Village, Holbrook, Arizona
Vintage style honestly couldn’t get any better than this. The Wigwam Motel, which is located in Holbrook, Arizona, is only one part of the Wigwam Motel chain that’s scattered across the West and Southwest. With its origins starting out back in 1950 and with it being based off Historic Route 66, this specific motel is a perfect exhibit of vintage mid-century Americana. Classic, beautiful automobiles cover the parking lot and neon signs in stylish fonts greet sentimental road trippers, while simultaneously the fifteen wigwams, which are pretty much more resemblant of teepees include basic motel features such as hot showers and cable TV.
11.) Grand Daddy Hotel, South Africa
From the windows of its corner location on the festive Long Street, this five-story Cape Town resort seems from street level as an authentic boutique estate with a hip as hbar and grill. However, climb up to the roof to check yourself into one the Grand Daddy Hotel’s seven authentic Airstream trailers. Each of these trailers contains a particular touch to it and is colorful both in interior design and in its RV model design. In addition to this each trailer is named after various nearby regions to completely represent a South African road trip. If they’re all booked up during your trip, don’t worry. You can still chillax at the rooftop Sky Bar and take in the Airstream beauty with a cocktail.
16.) Giraffe Manor, Kenya
Kenya is famous for possessing the The Big Five of African Wildlife (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceros, and cape buffalo), but at this historic mansion there is a sixth wildlife, and it happens to be the main theme- giraffes! The resort is less than 10 miles outside the crazy city center of Nairobi, the vine smothered Giraffe Manor is the epitome of tranquility. The brick mansion was constructed back in 1932, however it was when preservationists Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville purchased the land in 1974 that it truly became what it is today. The land would swiftly grow to 140 acres and it’s now home to a herd of resident Rothschild giraffes along with the neighboring AFEW Giraffe Center.
15.) Costa Verde, Quepos, Costa Rica
To invent a hotel that's mostly like a scene straight out of the TV show Lost, the Costa Verde team transformed and cleaned up a 1965 classic Boeing 727 body in order to make a perfect two-bedroom hotel room on a coastal rainforest setup. A primary spot for romance, weddings and honeymoons, it's located on a concrete plinth that shoots up 15 miles into this jungle-esque canopy. This is done to make looking out of the windows to feel like you’re flying in mid-air. There's a wooden cabin constructed around the aircraft, along with furnishings in hand carved teak, and the back bedroom contains a handcrafted deck on the wing, from

Hells Gate Gorge Walk
I went on a gorge walk, when I visited Hells Gate National Park, which lies south of Lake Naivasha, Kenya.
It was used as the main setting for Disney's 1994 film The Lion King and also featured in Angelina Jolie's film Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2.
I would recommend visiting.
I traveled to Kenya with Adventure Alternative in March/April 2016, visiting projects of their sister charity, the Moving Mountains Trust. If your looking to travel with a responsible adventure travel company, then visit

Its the most spectacular destinations on earth where you can walk, cycle or run alongside Zebras, Gazelles, warthogs and other wildlife.
