NM True TV - Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary
This unusual sanctuary offers canines more than a safe place to live, it also puts them in the role of educators for visitors. The experience is among the most memorable for the NM True TV Crew from their travels all around the state.

El Morro, NM - Wolf Sanctuary & El Morro National Monument
Just when everything seemed to be going wrong, it got better.
Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary:
Ancient Way Cafe, El Morro:
This morning we leave Chimayo with our sights set on Flagstaff, Arizona. It's an incredibly windy day and the straps that hold down the roof top tent cover blow loose several times and we have to stop to fasten them back. We make it to Gallup, New Mexico, stop for gasoline and re-evaluate the trip. The weather forecast calls for continued strong winds all the way to, and also in Flagstaff. We change our plans and head for the El Morro National Monument campground. It's 55 miles away and we can make it there in time to set up and cook supper before dark.
The campground at the National Monument is full so we go a few miles further down the road and discover an RV Park/cafe combo in the small town of El Morro. The folks there are incredibly nice and accommodating. Supper at the Ancient Way Cafe is amazing. Just when everything seemed to be going wrong we come across wonderful people and places. The next day we visit the nearby Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary (in Ramah, NM) and hike the short Inscription Trail at El Morrow National Monument.
Our sincere thanks to the kind and hard-working folks at the Ancient Way Cafe / El Morro RV Park!

He loves people, and he especially loves beards... that's why he attacks John so much. xD
He greets people by jumping on them and licking their face... this is why the camera goes crazy in the beginning. I'm only 5 feet tall, so he was definitely bigger than me, and he knocked my glasses off. xD

♥ Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary has been incorporated since 1994, received its 501(c)3 IRS status and USDA licensure in 1995 and is now recognized as one of the most experienced sanctuaries for wolves and wolf-dogs in the country.
♥ The Sanctuary houses over sixty captive-bred wolves and wolf-dogs, most of who were rescued from abusive or neglectful situations. Since the animals were raised in a captive situation, they do not possess the skills necessary to survive in the wild and cannot be released. We offer lifelong care to all of our residents.
♥ We strive to create the best environment possible for our animals. The Sanctuary is located in the high-desert mountains of western New Mexico providing plenty of trees and hills for our animals to explore in enclosures ranging from 5000 square feet to one acre. All of our wolves and wolf-dogs are offered only the best diet, vitamin supplementation, and medical care available.
♥ We understand the importance of education and strive to teach the public the truth about wolves. We travel around the state and nearby areas with our Ambassador Wolf to meet people at events and classrooms. On-site tours allow people to better understand our mission and why sanctuaries like ours are necessary.
♥ Wild Spirit is a non-profit organization who is almost entirely supported by private donations. Through animal sponsorships, memberships, and other donations, our members are the backbone to the Sanctuary's survival. Any contribution to our cause is an extraordinary gift to our animals.

And that's not my normal voice... I make my voice more high-pitched when I talk to animals... it's kind of a reflex. xD
