San Simeon Beach AKA William R. Hearst Memorial State Beach - This amazing beach and trail is directly across from our famous Hearst Castle. From fishing on the 1,000-foot wood pier to hiking along sandy stretches of the shore, swimming in the summer sun to surfing the winter waves, this protected cove offers a rich array of aquatic adventure and activity all year long. Being south facing, the surf is calm and the wind is usually lighter. Picnic tables can be found here, along with restrooms, water faucets, grills, and a kayak and boogie board concession for equipment rental.
Located directly across California Highway 1 from Hearst Castle, find a parking space amid the 150-spot parking lot and spend the day enjoying the sights, sounds and fun of San Simeon's most famous beach.
Just north is Piedras Blancas Beach which is home to over 15,000 northern elephant seals!
Do not confuse this beach with San Simeon State Park which is located a few miles south and offers beach camping. (See that park here:

Hearst Castle is a National and California Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of California, United States. It was designed by architect Julia Morgan between 1919 and 1947 for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, who died in 1951. Among Hearst's A-list guests were Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, the Marx Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, James Stewart, Bob Hope, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin Roosevelt, Dolores Del Rio, and Winston Churchill.
