SUMMARY
=======
Yards Brewing Company is a craft brewery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, specializing in ales, particularly those in the English tradition. In 1994 friends Tom Kehoe and Jon Bovit established Yards after producing their own homebrews since 1988. Within the first few months, the Yards Guys were producing one six-keg batch at a time out of their 3.5-barrel brewhouse, and supplying ESA, Entire Porter, and several other cask-conditioned ales to bars. After several partnership changes, Kehoe has continued expanding the Yards brand by moving to larger locations and incrementally increasing the overall output capacity. In 2015, Yards was capable of brewing 55,000 barrels. Yards is currently planning yet another expansion, which would almost effectively double their brewing capability, raising the annual production volume to 200,000 barrels.

Yards George Washington's Tavern Porter Beer Review (ESTD.October of 1994).
George Washington
Born February 22, 1732
Westmoreland, Virginia, British America
Died December 14, 1799 (aged 67)
Mount Vernon, Virginia, U.S.
1st President of the United States
In office:- April 30, 1789 -- March 4, 1797
1988...in the year six B.Y. (Before Yards)
Like many college students, friends Tom Kehoe and Jon Bovit enjoyed beer but didn't enjoy paying for it. So they decided to take action and began brewing it themselves. As they homebrewed their way through Western Maryland College, they experimented with malt, hops, and yeast, formulating new recipes and sharing their creations with friends. It wasn't long before they had more friends than beer.
1993
To gain some hands-on experience in a professional brewery, Kehoe and Bovit apprenticed at the British Brewing Company, a pioneering English-style brewery in Glen Burnie, MD. They spent their early days there cleaning kegs and, their first paycheck was a Happy Meal. No joke... it was a quarter pounder, fries, and a coke. Then in 1994, they emptied their savings accounts, maxed out their credit cards, and took the plunge. Yards Brewing Company was born in a 900 square foot garage in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
1994
Tom and Jon decided to take the plunge. They emptied their savings accounts, maxed out their credit cards, and Yards Brewing Company was born in a 900 sq. ft. garage in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. The first Yards kegs were delivered to Dawson Street Pub, Khyber Pass, and Cavanaugh's in the spring of 1994. Each keg was conditioned with fresh hops (called dry hopping) and yeast (to naturally carbonate). The 'Yards Guys' as they were lovingly called, made it a point to raise a few pints whenever a bar tapped its first Yards ale. Yards was officially incorporated in October of 1994.
LIQUID COURAGE
Detailed in a letter from the General to his officers during the war, Washington's recipe employed molasses to aid fermentation and give rich caramel notes to this robust, roasty ale. The recipe reflected his admiration for Philadelphia-style porters, especially those brewed by Robert Hare (whose original brewery stood just blocks from where ours is now). Our Tavern Porter, inspired by Washington's, is dark, smooth, and complex with just a hint of dried fruit in the finish.
George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731] -- December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States (1789--1797), the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He presided over the convention that drafted the United States Constitution, which replaced the Articles of Confederation and which remains the supreme law of the land.
Washington was elected President as the unanimous choice of the electors in 1788, and he served two terms in office. He oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the wars raging in Europe, suppressed rebellion, and won acceptance among Americans of all types. His leadership style established many forms and rituals of government that have been used since, such as using a cabinet system and delivering an inaugural address. Further, the peaceful transition from his presidency to that of John Adams established a tradition that continues into the 21st century. Washington was hailed as father of his country even during his lifetime.
Washington was born into the provincial gentry of Colonial Virginia; his wealthy planter family owned tobacco plantations and slaves. After both his father and older brother died when he was young, Washington became personally and professionally attached to the powerful William Fairfax, who promoted his career as a surveyor and soldier. Washington quickly became a senior officer in the colonial forces during the first stages of the French and Indian War. Chosen by the Second Continental Congress in 1775 to be commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in the American Revolution, Washington managed to force the British out of Boston in 1776, but was defeated and almost captured later that year when he lost New York City. After crossing the Delaware River in the dead of winter, he defeated the British in two battles, retook New Jersey and restored momentum to the Patriot cause.
At his death, Washington was eulogized as first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen by Henry Lee.
He is consistently ranked among the top three presidents of the United States, according to polls of both scholars and the general public.

New Hope remembers American Revolution
Before New Hope was known as an arts community with eclectic shops and restaurants, it was known as Coryell's Ferry during the time of the American revolution.
Today, reenactors relived this time through the 27th Annual Lt. Munroe Delaware Crossing Parade.
We have a very rich heritage of history from the American Revolution here in this area, so we just feel that it's very important to keep these memories alive, said 5th Pennsylvania Regiment Volunteer Dominick Diiorio.

ATB048 - A New Beer From America's Oldest Brewery
Mention Yuengling to a beer lover and he'll swear it can be bought throughout the country. But America's oldest brewery, born in 1829, actually is available in very few states. Nevertheless, the company's beers are among the favorites of many. And now, the brewery has released its first seasonal, Yuengling Bock. We'll meet Rob Schimony, Core Division Manager for Yuengling as the new beer is introduced to the general public. Glad to make your acquaintance! We're also joined by Tom Kehoe of Yards Brewing as he tells us about the relaunch of the Philadelphia brewery.

It has to be one of the fine selections from the worlds greatest brewery.........The Philadelphia Brewing Company!
For years now, The Philadelphia Brewing Company has been serving up the tastiest brew in the land with great beers such as.....

The Worst Invasive Species The U.S. Has Seen in 150 Years
The Spotted Lanternfly is considered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be the worst invasive species in the last 150 years.
