Yen Duc Village - A unique cultural experience in Vietnam

Yen Duc village tour is a community based tourism project, has been developed by Indochina Junk JSC since 2011, aim to support local community and bring more unique experience to visitors.
Yen Duc village is in Dong Trieu town of Quang Ninh province, in the Northeast Vietnam. The village ideally locates on the highway between Hanoi and Halong Bay, just a short drive from both main tourist destinations in the North of Vietnam.
Yen Duc village is one of the villages in the delta still remains typical tradition. The local people keep their life in closer with rice cultivation and farming activities. Passing through the village, visitors still find the charming rice field, local house and garden, friendly locals working in their farm… a beautiful village with poetic scenery, charming rivers, historical mountains, sacred legends and relics related to Ly and Tran dynasty. The village was recognized as a national relic in 1993.
Right there you will have a chance to be a real farmer, doing farming work, enjoying water puppet show, visiting local pagodas and markets, doing some handicraft under local villagers instruction, catching fish in the pond, investing vegetables, etc.

Yen Duc village tour is a community based tourism project developed by Indochina Junk JSC. For more information, visit our official website:
Since 2011, the community based tourism project in Yen Duc village has been operated launching the first product, Yen Duc village day trip and folk song performance. This short trip was designed for tourists back from Halong Bay to discover village in some hours and enjoy a homemade Vietnamese cooking meals in village. In the following years, more product and service has been introduced: water puppet show and overnight tour. In 2012, the authentic Viet House accommodation has been built, tourists visiting village had another experience to stay overnight in village, the Viet House is a traditional style house in rural area of Vietnam with comfortable spacious room, surrounded by garden, rice fields and local community, which had changed the Yen Duc village tour to become accessible for longer stay and more unique experience for tourists. In 2015, homestay service has been added; visitors now can experience the village life with locals, eat, participate in farming and stay as a local in their home. The homestay is truly a nice experience to observe the village life and interact with locals.
From 2011-2015 (4 years), YEN DUC VILLAGE achieved some great results:
- 400 villagers has been trained about community based tourism and understand about the positive effect of tourism to the community
- 50 villagers have directly worked for the project and get paid of more than 3.000.000 VND/ month.
- 2 homestays with 7 rooms has been developed in the village
- 1 English class for children in village operates annually
- 20 Scholarship give to local students every year
- Thousands of international visitors has visited the village and appreciate the local life and culture here.
- Many television broadcasting channels, newspapers wrote about village and shared to the world about the destination.
- Awareness of local authority in Quang Ninh province towards community based tourism.
- Winner of “ TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence” in 3 consecutive years ( 2013, 2014, 2015)

Our last 24hrs in Vietnam we spent in Yen Duc Village in a Viet House arranged by the Indochina Junk where we booked our cruise. The village is between Ha Long Bay and Hanoi. We were lucky enough to have the entire Viet House to ourselves. The staff was amazing and we had a lot of fun getting to go around the village and meeting some locals.

About Ba Vang Pagoda
Ba Vang Pagoda, located on Mount Ba Vang , Quang Trung Ward , Uong Bi town , Quang Ninh province , will be officially inaugurated. The pagoda has the largest sanctum in Vietnam will be an attractive destination for both tourists and spiritual pilgrims. Ba Vang Pagoda is the pagoda that have been classified as historical monuments in the province of Quang Ninh, represents Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen style. There is 123.81ha land, and it is considered as being at the best location.
Located on Thanh Dang halfway up the mountain, the temple also known as Bao Quang itself, the folk name often called Ba Vang. The temple is located at an altitude of 340m on a very beautiful location in the western city of Uong Bi, Bach Dang River front is curved, so far as the port city of Haiphong, the eye can be all identical Son beach with waves lapping . On the left is the same message mountains Dragon adoration of, the right is the majestic mountain range of Bach Ho dress down.
The most notable artifacts of Ba Vang pagoda left temple to today is a stone artifacts, including 0.52 m high stele 1, 0.38 m wide, 0.12 m thick, 2 turtle 1 stone and stone incense tree height 1.2 m 4 sides, each 0.22 m wide face. As time flows, kanji on stone and cedar worn stone, very hard to read.

Designed by a Spanish architect, Mr. Salvador Perez Arroyo, Quang Ninh Museum is located on an area of nearly 24,000 square meters with unique architecture, charming space and plenty of valuable artifacts. The project has a total investment of over VND 900 billion, including 3 blocks connected together by an overhead bridge system. Inspired by the iconic coal, a typical mineral of Quang Ninh Province, the work is a symbol on the most beautiful coastal road in Halong City. Especially, the building is assembled with 14,000 square meters of glasses that can be resistant to temperature changes. Thanks to bold architecture, the building is like a giant mirror reflecting the image of the world natural heritage Halong Bay.

Halong bay is in northeastern Vietnam, from E106°56' to E107°37' and from N20°43' to N21°09'. The bay stretches from Yên Hưng district, past Hạ Long city, Cẩm Phả town to Vân Đồn district, bordered on the south and southeast by the Gulf of Tonkin, on the north by China and on the west and southwest by Cát Bà island. The bay has a 120 kilometre long coastline and is approximately 1,553 square kilometres in size with 1969 islets. The area designated by UNESCO as the World Natural Heritage Site includes 434 km² with 775 islets, of which the core zone is delimited by 69 points: Đầu Gỗ island on the west, Ba Hầm lake on the south and Cống Tây island on the east.
