Takayama - Yoshijima Heritage House
Day 26 - Yoshijima Heritage House
After visiting the museums, I wondered around the old town area while the rest of my group went off to the castle ruins. I decided to stop by Yoshijima Heritage House, which is apparently an architect's dream. It was a huge house, and the skyline was amazing. I would love to be able to live in a place like that one day.

Japon tradition - Takayama Kusakabe house
The Kusakabe Heritage Museum belonged to a wealthy family of national power providers during the Edo period (1603-1868). The building underwent a fire in 1875 and the current building is a reconstruction made in 1879. As a private residence from the Meiji period, it was classified as an important cultural property, and was reopened a few years ago as folk art museum.

Takayama Old Town Street Food
Takayama Old Town! A vintage shopping district filled with amazing street foods and merchandise shops! The prices in here are way cheaper than the cities :D.
I went here on November, so there's no snow yet, but when there's snow, it's very beautiful! i'm so gonna come back during winter next time!
Thanyaporn restaurant is amazing too! It's Vegeterian and Halal friendly! For an Indonesian like me, who ate spicy food all my life, this is definitely a great restaurant considering Japan didn't put much spices in their food :D.
Here's the link for Thanyaporn Guest house, they have a lot of services, the owner are so nice! 10/10 will come back!

Higashiyama Walking Course, Takayama, Japan, 高山 - Canon 80D - Virtual Trip
The Higashiyama or Higashiyama Yûhodô Trail is a hike well known to everyone traveling to Takayama. It defines the city to the east and let us discover a dozen temples at the foot of the mountain. Higashiyama Yûhodô crosses Teramachi (the temple district still called Higashiyama) and ends at Shiroyama Park, at the foot of the ruins of the castle. This small, discreet path leads to the back of the houses and leads from temple to temple for a cultural visit of the city.

Takayama - Old Town (night time)
Day 26 - Old Town (night time)
After a break at the accommodation charging batteries and waiting for my friends to return, we decided to head out to wander about the town at night. It was very different without all the people, though not as atmospheric as it was back in Ogimachi.

Takayama - Sembei making, Old Town and Takayama Jinya
Day 26 - Sembei marking, Old Town and Takayama Jinya
One thing which was quite annoying to me was that many places in Japan sold almost the exact same souvenirs. While Takayama was no different, there were still many other things which I came across that I have not found anywhere else thus far. One of these was being able to watch people make sembei (rice crackers). It is amazing how they get such a small piece of rice cake into such a large piece of sembei.
The stroll around the old town was enjoyable and relaxing despite the large number of people there. Something about the old buildings brings about an aura of calmness.
I decided to head off to Takayama Jinya as the last stop of the day. Back in the day, this was the government office of Takayama. The complex was much larger than I thought it was from the outside. However by this time I was running out of battery on my camcorder and had to be stingy on what videos I took.
