Perth Hills is a term used primarily for marketing purposes to identify that part of the Darling Scarp and hinterland east of the scarp, that lies within the Shire of Mundaring and the City of Kalamunda, and as part of the constituent bodies belonging to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council of Perth, Western Australia. The term is most commonly found on tourist maps, and on the government Department of Environment and Conservation pamphlets and materials relating to the regional headquarters at Mundaring Weir – The Perth Hills National Parks Centre and its 'Nearer to Nature' programs and activities.   • 1. Cottesloe Beach Cottesloe
    Cottesloe is a western suburb of Perth, Western Australia, within the Town of Cottesloe. Cottesloe was named for Thomas Fremantle, 1st Baron Cottesloe, a prominent Tory politician and the brother of Admiral Sir Charles Fremantle for whom the city of Fremantle was named. The nearby suburb of Swanbourne was named for the Fremantle family seat, Swanbourne House, in Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire. Cottesloe was home to Australian Prime Minister John Curtin. The house he built still stands in Jarrad Street. It is now vested jointly in the National Trust of Australia and Curtin University.

Offshore to the north-west is Australia's largest naval fleet and submarine base, Garden Island, connected to the mainland by an all-weather causeway.
