Sogn og Fjordane [ˈsɔŋn ɔ ˈfjuːɾɑnə] is a county in western Norway, bordering Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland. The county administration is in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. The largest town in the county is Førde. Although Sogn og Fjordane has some industry, predominantly hydroelectricity and aluminium, it is predominantly an agricultural area. Sogn og Fjordane is also home to the Urnes Stave Church and the Nærøyfjord, which are both listed by UNESCO as world heritage sites. The Western Norway University of Applied Sciences has campuses in Sogndal and Førde.

    Kaupanger Stave Church is the largest stave church in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kaupanger in Sogndal Municipality, on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden. It is still in use as a parish church, having been in use continuously since its completion in the mid-12th century. The church is part of the Kaupanger parish in the Indre Sogn deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.The church is a Norwegian Cultural Heritage Site. The nave is supported by 22 staves , 8 on each of the longer sides and 3 on each of the shorter. The elevated chancel is carried by 4 free standing staves. The church has the largest number of staves to be found in any one stave church. It is the largest of the five stave churches in Sogn og Fjordane county.

    Loen is a village in Stryn Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located in the inner part of the Nordfjord region, at the easternmost end of the Nordfjorden. Loen is located about 6 kilometres north of the village of Olden and about 11 kilometres southeast of the municipal center of Stryn. The lake Lovatnet is located just to the southeast of the village of Loen. The Hotel Alexandra was established in Loen in 1884. The historic Loen Church is also located in the village.

    Stedje Church is the main parish church in Sogndal Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sogndalsfjøra, near the shore of the Sogndalsfjorden. The church is part of the Stedje parish in the Indre Sogn deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The red, wooden church, which has 400 seats, was built in 1867. It was consecrated on 17 December 1867 by the Bishop Peter Hersleb Graah Birkeland. The architect Christian Christie made the designs for the building. This church was built to replace an older stave church. This has been a church site since the 9th century AD.

The church is part of the Luster parish in the Indre Sogn deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The brown, wooden church, which has 130 seats, was built from 1647 to 1652 to replace an older stave church that was torn down.
