Maidstone is a large, historically important town in Kent, England, of which it is the county town. It lies 32 miles east-south-east of London. The River Medway runs through the centre of the town, linking it with Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Historically, the river carried much of the town's trade as the centre of the agricultural county of Kent, known as the Garden of England. There is evidence of settlement in the area dating back before the Stone Age. The town, part of the borough of Maidstone, had a population of 113,137 people in 2011.     Thurnham is a village and civil parish which lies at the foot of the North Downs 3 miles north east of Maidstone in the Borough of Maidstone and ceremonial county of Kent in England. It had a population of 1,085 in 2001 including Weavering, which increased to 1,205 following the 2011 Census.There have been several archaeological finds in the area: an Anglo-Saxon burial ground was discovered within the grounds of Thornham Friars in 1913, a 7th-century gold cross was found in 1967 and the remains of a Roman house were excavated in 1933.     Leeds Castle is in Kent, England, 5 miles southeast of Maidstone. A castle has been on the site since 1086. In the 13th century it came into the hands of King Edward I, for whom it became a favourite residence; in the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a dwelling for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The castle today dates mostly from the 19th century and is built on islands in a lake formed by the River Len to the east of the village of Leeds. It has been open to the public since 1976.

1. Take the Euro Tunnel. It is rail tunnel between the United Kingdom (near Dover) and France (near Calais).
At its lowest point, you travel 115 m (380 ft) below the sea level!!

2. White Cliffs of Dover & Dover Castle


3. Eastbourne: Beachy Head Lighthouse & Birling Gap

4. Seven Sisters Cliffs & Cuckmere Haven
You need to see the famous Seven Sisters cliffs and the coastguard cottages, from Seaford Head across the River Cuckmere. They became famous through a couple of movies like Robin Hood (Prince of Thieves), and through the film Atonement where Robbie and Cecilia always wanted to live :)

5.World Heritage Site Stonehenge
The most important prehistoric monuments - Stonehenge.
It was built over 3500(!) years ago. It is assumed, that it was constructed from 3000 to 2000 BC. Nobody knows the meaning and purpose of it, which makes it somehow mystic - that's at least what I thought
