The Woolpack Inn Bar

Warehorne is a village and civil parish in the south of the Ashford Borough of Kent, England. It is a scattered community centred on the Hamstreet to Tenterden road around seven miles SSW of Ashford. The Royal Military Canal passes through the south of the civil parish. The first mention of Warehorne is in a charter of the Saxon King Egbert, A.D. 820, where it is called Werehornas. The Domesday Survey of 1086 mentions Warehorne by name and states the a church existed there. The present church shows no sign of Saxon or of Norman work.

Cooden Level Crossing

Two Class 377s in Southern livery cross this remote crossing near Bexhill, heading to Cooden station and Normans Bay respectively. The crossing is absurdly called Pevensey Sluice, with Pevensey and Pevensey Bay about 4 miles away, and there are no sluices near the crossing. Cooden is closer. On approach to the crossing there are newish countdown markers. Seems a bit overkill as 12 new signs had to be erected and they are unnecessary. 6 would have done the job just as well. The fairly narrow road runs right next to the beach, with shingle spilling onto the road. The road is lined with expensive houses and beach huts. This location in the Pevensey Levels is so remote, it has no easy-to-find postcodes around it, and half of it isn't in a civil parish. Bloody council.
