Benoni is a town in Ekurhuleni municipality, Gauteng, South Africa. Benoni is a diverse city, featuring more horse stables per square kilometre than anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere and over ten schools; in some areas there is a concentration of up to 6000 students within a 5 km radius. Ashton International College was founded here in 1998. Over time gold mining has decreased in importance. Today Benoni is focused more on industry and services, rather than mining, and is used as a service hub for eastern Ekurhuleni like Brakpan, Nigel and Springs.   • 1. Nelson Mandela Square Sandton
    Nelson Mandela Square is a public square and shopping centre in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The square was formerly known as Sandton Square and was named for the former President of South Africa and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela in March 2004. A six meter high statue of Mandela was unveiled at the ceremony to rename the square. It is attached to the large Sandton City shopping centre, together forming one of the largest retail complexes on the continent with over 400 stores.
