Abandoned Cold War Nuclear Bunker Hidden in Britain
During the late 1980's Southern Water built three emergency control centres one at Brede in Sussex, one at Twyford in Hampshire (now owned by Chubb Security and used as a secure storage facility and the third near Gillingham in Kent serving the Chatham, area. The Gillingham bunker just south of the Farthing Corner services on the M2 is built within a disused covered reservoir. Although completed the bunker was never fitted out or used.
The bunker is within a large fenced compound on the south side of a minor road; it is mounded over with earth and grass with two short ventilation towers on top and a recessed entrance on the north side. There is an emergency exit shaft at the rear of the mound accessed by lifting a manhole cover.

So guys, this was an absolutely amazing location in my opinion, and I would highly recommend you come here and take a look on the one of the next open days, they are open the first Saturday of every month. However this was the December open day 2017, so I don’t know if there will be any alterations to when the bunker is open come 2018. So be sure to check out their website and Facebook page which will both be linked down below, along with the address of the bunker to visit. Exploring Cold War Nuclear Bunker - (2017 Open Day)
So guys, I just want to establish that this post is only open certain days of the year, the links to all that information is Below if you want to go the next one. It was very good of one of owners of the site to appear in the video, so a massive thank you to the workers of the post as well. I know this is a slightly different kind of video as the post wasn't actually abandoned, but it's good to give you all an insight as to what the post would have originally looked like. I would recommend that you do the this place when you can, they do open days every year, I went last year as I mentioned but decided to save it until this year before I recorded it. So be sure to check out their Facebook page and their official website to, this is a kind of promotion video of the site, but I'am not being payed since it was up to me to make the video. Also, my PC is fixed now, so I'll be using the GoPro once again, look out for that in Sunday's video where I visit the abandonments of the U.K's only unofficial desert. So guys as I said in the video. I can’t leave any further information Links because this place was opened up for me and other people that arranged to be on the tour of it. I won’t be giving out the owners name, but they really stressed it to me how important it was to not give out any location information out or any entrance points. However if you do want to get down here then the research is there to do. But as I said, restoration work is still happening and the bunker won’t be fully complete for a bit of time, and I was going to leave a donation option to help quicken work on the bunker but that again could possibly give away the location because it would include the whole website. But anyways guys I hope you enjoyed the video and I massive thanks to the owner of the site, and hopefully the work continues and restoration is fully complete over the next few years.
