Malalcahuello-Nalcas is a protected area comprising two adjoining national reserves: Malalcahuello and Nalcas. It is located in the Andes, in the Araucanía Region of Chile and bordering the Bío-Bío Region. The landscape of the area is dominated by the volcanoes Lonquimay and Tolhuaca. The combined Reserva Nacional Malalcahuello-Nalcas covers 313 km2, with the boundary between the Reserva Nacional Nalcas and the Reserva Nacional Malalcahuello crossing the summit of Lonquimay. 1. Conguillio National Park Araucania Region
Conguillío National Park is located in the Andes, in the provinces of Cautín and Malleco, in the Araucanía Region of Chile also known as Region IX. Its name derives from the Mapuche word for water with Araucaria seeds. Among the attractions in the park are the Llaima volcano, Sierra Nevada and wild landscapes characterized by islands of vegetation completely surrounded by vast areas of lava flows. Extensive forests, formed mainly by Araucarias and Nothofagus species, and small lakes increase the scenic beauty of the park. It is also known as Los Paraguas , due to the shape of the Monkey Puzzle trees. The park was used as filming location for Walking with Dinosaurs, a television series produced by the BBC.

Radal Siete Tazas National Park , Chile

Radal Siete Tazas National Park is a national park located in Curicó Province, Maule Region, Chile. It lies in a pre-Andean area close to Descabezado Grande volcano.
This is a gorgeous park with a surface area of 5,147.51 hectares (11,324.5 acres), whose major attraction is its 7 waterfalls and their respective ‘cups’ (tazas) that Claro de Molina river has carved over millions of years out of the basalt rock. This zone is an ecological transition between the draught-tolerant vegetation of the north and the more humid forests of the south. You will find various singing birds, such as thrush and tench, and predators like puma and leopardus colocolo.

Amongst the cypress and oak woods, you will also find traces of ancient nomad peoples and hunter-gatherers, like piedra tacita (stones used for the grinding of foodstuffs).

The park is an attractive destination for kayakers, who can navigate the rapids of the Claro river.
