Beaminster is a small town and civil parish in Dorset, England, situated in the West Dorset administrative district approximately 15 miles northwest of the county town Dorchester. It is sited in a bowl-shaped valley near the source of the small River Brit. The 2013 mid-year estimate of the population of Beaminster parish is 3,100. In its history Beaminster has been a centre of manufacture of linen and woollens, the raw materials for which were produced in the surrounding countryside. The Hawk Conservancy Trust is a bird park and conservation charity that cares for and displays birds of prey. It is located in Weyhill, Hampshire, England, near to the A303 road and the town of Andover. Founded as a zoo by local farmer Reg Smith and his wife Hilary, the park was incorporated as the Hawk Conservancy Trust in 2002. It is also the site of the National Bird of Prey Hospital, a veterinary hospital that takes in injured birds of prey.

Woolacombe is a seaside resort on the coast of North Devon, England, which lies at the mouth of a valley in the parish of Mortehoe. The beach is 3 miles long, sandy, gently sloping and faces the Atlantic Ocean near the western limit of the Bristol Channel. It is a popular destination for surfing and family holidays and is part of the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The beach has been managed by Parkin Estates Ltd for over half a century and has over the years continuously been recognised as one of the best beaches in Europe. Elton - Peak District Villages

presents Elton. The White Peak village of Elton, recorded in the Domesday Book as Eltune, and thus signifying its Saxon origins, stands 950 feet above sea-level on an east-west plateau three quarters of the way up a bleak north facing hillside.

This stone-built peakland village bears testimony to an unusual geological feature which can be plainly seen in the architecture of its old buildings, many of them built in the 17th & 18th centuries, - for Elton stands on what geologists call a 'strata boundary'; and remarkably the buildings on the north side of Main Street are constructed of gritstone, whilst those on the opposite south-side of the street are built of limestone!

Unlike many of its neighbours Elton has not fallen prey to the tourist trade and remains completely unspoiled by the modern trappings of rampant commercialism. The only souvenirs that tourists are likely to take away with them are chilblains and sore feet, for Elton is walking country,- and there is no tourist or souvenir shop, in fact there are no shops at all!

Laverstock Farm, Self Catering and B&B Accomodation in West Dorset

Laverstock is nestled in the Marshwood Vale at the foot of Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Pen in West Dorset, approximately six miles from Bridport & West Bay and eleven miles from Lyme Regis. Laverstock is a beautiful private estate and is a wonderful place to relax and explore West Dorset and East Devon. We welcome families and Laverstock is popular place for children. Dogs are also welcome in three of our properties with prior notice.
