Thessalon is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located at the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 129 on the north shore of Lake Huron. It is surrounded by but not part of the municipality of Huron Shores, and is part of Algoma District. The main industries are timber and tourism. The town is a popular retirement community. It is the administrative headquarters of the Thessalon Ojibway First Nation reserve.

Mississagi Provincial Park is a natural environment-class park north of Elliot Lake, in Algoma District, Ontario, Canada. It lies on the Boland River, a tributary of the Little White River, which is a tributary of the Mississagi River. The park is accessed via Highway 639. In late 2012, a release from the province stated that Mississagi Provincial Park would change its status from that of an 'operating' to a 'non-operating' park due to low visitation rates. As such, this park will not operate during the 2013 season. There will be no staff on site and facilities will not be maintained. The park will remain a protected area and visitors can continue to enjoy the park for day-use. The park will be gated and access is on foot. 3. Batchawana Bay Provincial Park Batchawana Bay
Batchawana Bay is an unincorporated place and Compact Rural Community in Algoma District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is also the name of a local services board, consisting of parts of the geographic townships of Fisher, Herrick, Ryan and Tilley. It is located north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, on the shores of Batchawana Bay off Lake Superior. The area is counted as part of Unorganized North Algoma District in Statistics Canada census data. Batchawana Bay Provincial Park is nearby along Highway 17; the community itself is reached from Highway 17 by Ontario Highway 563.

Algoma District in northern Ontario, Canada

This slideshow is about Algoma, a wilderness district in northern Ontario. Hundreds of kilometres of deep woods, lakes, rivers. Very few people and cars. I took these photos during a couple of trips. Mississagi River and Little White River (the smaller one) are shown.
Black bears, wolves, coyotes, skunks and other critters roam.
There are wonderful roads for motorcycling (highway 129 and 546), plenty of ATV trails, and plenty of nice hiking.

Abandoned rural home in Ontario with everything left behind

We believe the owners passed away given the photos of seniors on the piano. The power no longer works although it did a few years back. Located where it can't be seen from the road, which has helped ensure it's safety.

Beach Observations: Voyager Trail - Gros Cap - July 3

Mike and Kate explore the cobbled beaches, rock faces and bluffs that highlight the rugged characteristics of Gros Cap on the Voyager Hiking Trail ... including a wind turbine farm. The geology of Gros Cap is unusual because the property is situated on a batholith, a large deep-seated body of intrusive igneous rock consisting of coarse-grained granite rock. This was created when the magma (hot liquid rock) miles below forced its way upward. The 40 kilometer (25 mile) Saulteaux section of the Voyageurs Trail starts in the Gros Cap Conservation Area and runs through to the Hiawatha Conservation Area.
