Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. Centred on the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, it is near the longitudinal centre of North America, approximately 110 kilometres north of the Canada–United States border. The city is named after the nearby Lake Winnipeg; the name comes from the Western Cree words for muddy water.     Nopiming Provincial Park is a provincial park in Manitoba, Canada. It is located on the southeast side of the province, along the boundary with Ontario. The area was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 1976. The park is 1,429 square kilometres in size. The park is considered to be a Class II protected area under the IUCN protected area management categories.The park's name comes from the Anishinaabe word noopiming, meaning in the woods/brush used in reference to coming off a lake and heading inland. Another translation of Nopiming from the Anishinaabe language is Entrance to the Wilderness.
