Khomas is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia. Its name refers to the Khomas Highland, a high plateau landscape that dominates this administrative unit. Khomas is centered on the capital city Windhoek and provides for this reason superior transportation infrastructure. It is located in the central highlands of the country and is bordered by the Erongo region to the west and the northwest and by the Otjozondjupa region to the north.   • 1. Heroes Acre Windhoek
    The Heroes' Acre is an official war memorial of the Republic of Namibia. Built into the uninhabited hills c. 10 kilometres south of the city centre of Windhoek, Heroes' Acre opened on 26 August 2002 and operates for the purpose of foster a spirit of patriotism and nationalism, and to pass on the legacy to the future generations of Namibia.

  • 2. Katutura Township Windhoek
    Katutura is a township of Windhoek, Khomas Region, Namibia. Katutura was created in 1961 following the forced removal of Windhoek's black population from the Old Location, which afterwards was developed into the suburb Hochland Park. Sam Nujoma Stadium, built in 2005, is located within Katutura. Katutura Community Radio, a community-based radio station, also operates from the township. Katutura State Hospital, one of two State Hospitals in the Windhoek area, is located in the township.

  • 5. St Mary's Catholic Cathedral Windhoek
    St. Mary's Cathedral, known as St. Marien Kathedrale in German, is a Roman Catholic church in Windhoek, Namibia. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Windhoek. It is in the Karl-Werner street in the center of Windhoek and offers religious services every day except Monday night. It was built between 1906 and 1908 from local materials and elements of brick Romanesque revival style. The facade features a porch preceded by three semicircular arches topped by an arch and a triple. It is flanked by two quadrangular twin towers rising on four levels and crowned by arrows painted white.

  • 6. Independence Stadium Windhoek
    The Independence Stadium in Windhoek is the national stadium of the Republic of Namibia. It holds 25,000 spectators and is mainly used for football events. It has not been – as widely reported – renamed to Sam Nujoma Stadium. This is a new, much smaller stadium, also located in Windhoek.
