We visited this remote island in the South Pacific in 2012 on the (then) once weekly fligth from Auckland. Niue is not your typical South Pacific Island with snowy white sand and swaying palm trees! But what they lack in terms of beaches the reason why you should come here, is the people of the island! Incredible hospitable and we felt that the entire island met us at the airport on arrival. Immediately invited to chair in local traditions (as the weekly sundowner on the beach bar) to local festivities. And on top of the people iot is the incredible diving that are offered on Niue. This is a very special place in the South Pacific scheme of things! The video was given to us by the Niue Tourism Office.

Niue Tour, a Remote South Pacific Coral Atoll, Snorkeling, Caves, and Motorcycles; 2017 (Edited)
Niue, a coral atoll located in the middle of the triangle formed by Tonga, Fiji, and French Polynesia in the South Pacific, is a tiny coral atoll, ringed by a narrow, mostly paved coastal road, with no traffic lights, and only a handful of locals. With only one flight in and out each week from Auckland, and only rare visits from cruise ships, 'remote' is an understatement. With no tours offering excursions, we rented a motorbike and took the coastal road, dodging coconuts, and never passing a single car. Each coastal attraction was clearly marked by a large sign on the side of the road, complete with a trail map, description, and an outdoor shower to rinse off in. Top spots in Niue include Matapa Chasm, a massive fresh water spring fed rock chasm, that sports surreal pink rock at the waterline, and opens up to the roaring ocean. Hike down to Limu Pools for protected shallow water snorkeling, and maybe see the reclusive South Pacific sea snake. Hike down to the remote and rarely visited Hio Beach, and have the whole place to yourself. Hike through massive caves at Avaiki, down to tidal pools where royalty used to bathe. Littoral de Niue, une nation insulaire du Pacifique Sud
L'une des plus grandes îles coralliennes au monde est également l'une de ses plus petites nations. Niue, surnommée « Le Rocher de Polynésie » est située à environ 2 400 kilomètres au nord-est de la Nouvelle-Zélande dans la grande étendue de l'Océan Pacifique Sud.
