El Caminito del Rey recorre el Paraje Natural Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, un impresionante cañón abierto por el río Guadalhorce en las calizas y dolomías que tiene una longitud total de tres kilómetros y que alcanza alturas de hasta 300 metros y anchuras menores a los 10. Se encuentra en el centro de la provincia de Málaga entre los municipios de Álora, Antequera y Ardales y constituye uno de los paisajes más espectaculares de la sierra malagueña. Colgados a sus paredes disfrutamos las vistas del Valle del Hoyo o podemos vivir una aventura tan emocionante como hacer una vía de escalada de renombre internacional.

Malaga - Caminito del Rey (The way to) Part 1
1901 it became obvious that workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide for transport of materials, and for the inspection and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway took four years and it was finished in 1905.
In 1921 King Alfonso XIII crossed the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce and it became known by its present name.
In some places the walkway has collapsed.
The walkway is one meter (3 feet and 3 inches) in width, and rises over 100 meters (350 feet) above the river below. It is currently in a highly deteriorated state and there are numerous sections where part of or the entire concrete top has collapsed away. The result is large open air gaps that are bridged only by narrow steel beams or other support fixtures. Very few of the original handrails exist but a Via ferrata safety-wire runs the length of the path. Several people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years and after two fatal accidents in 1999 and 2000[1], the local government closed both entrances. It is illegal to access the walkway but enforcement is minimal.
The regional government of Andalusia budgeted in 2006 for a restoration plan[2] estimated at € 7 million.

El término municipal de Ojén entre Sierra Alpujata y Sierra Blanca, es un rincón de gran belleza natural. El pueblo, conserva su fisonomía de casas escalonadas en la ladera que denotan su origen árabe, y en conjunto está considerado como uno de los pueblos más bonitos de la provincia.
Istán guarda en su trazado urbano la memoria de su pasado andalusí, calles estrechas y empinadas con casas de fachadas encaladas y rematadas por una cubierta de teja árabe, que donde mejor se deja sentir es en la parte alta del pueblo, donde aún se conserva parte de una torre de la antigua fortaleza árabe. Su término municipal forma parte del P. N. de la Sierra de Las Nieves, declarado por la Unesco Reserva de la Biosfera.

In this action packed episode of our road trip through Spain, we hop on a boat tour in Barbate, and then drive to El Caminito Del Rey, where we hiked the infamous El Chorro also known as the death hike (honestly, go google it). After a good nights rest we drove to Malaga to learn how to dodge a bull in the ring, then explored a movie set in Almeria where they used to film old spaghetti western movies!
Note on Bull Fighting:
Our team had a very unique opportunity to visit a bullfighting school and learn about the history of the Corrida De Torros. This isn't something that tourists can pay and do. The young men who live and train to become professional bullfighters are part of a cultural tradition that has been around for over a thousand years, a tradition that is very controversial. No animals were harmed in the making of this video.
