Along with the neighbouring city of Ílhavo, Aveiro is part of an urban agglomeration that includes 120,000 inhabitants, making it one of the most important populated regions by density in the Centro Region, and primary centre of the Intermunicipal Community of Aveiro and Baixo Vouga.     The Lighthouse of Praia da Barra, also known as the Aveiro Lighthouse , is an active lighthouse in the civil parish of Gafanha da Nazaré, municipality of Ílhavo, in the Portuguese district of Aveiro. Situated on the coastal Praia da Barra, at the southern margin of the Ria de Aveiro, it is the tallest lighthouse in Portugal, with a height of 203 feet overseeing the barrier beach and exposed to Atlantic storms. It is open to the public and visits are held on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:00.

    The BSWW Mundialito, sometimes simply known as Mundialito, is an annual international beach soccer tournament that takes place between few select countries, which are invited to play at the tournament organized by Beach Soccer Worldwide . First played in 1994 at Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the competition was reignited in 1997 in Portugal, where it has been held ever since. Few nations have won the tournament, those being only Brazil, Portugal, United States and Spain. The first Mundialito competition to consist of club teams took place in March 2011, known as the Mundialito de Clubes.

    The Bridge of Praia da Barra is a modern bridge, situated over a confluence of the Ria Aveiro, in the civil parish of Gafanha da Nazaré, municipality of Ílhavo, in the Portuguese district of Aveiro. The bridge is situated on the western coast of Portugal, in the district of Aveiro, where the Ria Aveiro connects to the Atlantic Ocean. To the south is the beach of Costa Nova do Prado and north by the beach of São Jacinto. Nearby is the lighthouse of Ponte da Barra and coastal seawall, that delimits the 500 metres southern entrance to the port of Aveiro. The breakwater separates the northern and southern beaches, is close to the Church of the Sagrada Família and campsite of Barra, that belong to the tourist route of Luz/Centro.

    Miramar is a small seaside village near the towns of Gulpilhares and Arcozelo, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, in the subregion of Greater Porto, Portugal . It is an upmarket residential area south of the river Douro, most known for its beach – Praia de Miramar – and the small chapel called Senhor da Pedra , which forms the central attraction of a yearly festival.
