The Beauty of China’s Changbai Mountain,Jilin Province Changbai Shan Aerial View.Covering a total area of 2000 square km, Changbaishan National Reserve is, as a large natural flora and fauna nature reserve, part of the UNESCO's Man and Biosphere Program. The Chonji Lake (Tainchi Lake), mountains, hot springs (not for bathing), and waterfalls are among the six local natural wonders. The mountains, covered with pristine forests, make an excellent tourist destination.
Tianchi Lake is 13 km in circumference but cannot be walked around as the far side is in North Korea.
Mount Paektu (Changbaishan) has two separate areas - the northern slope and the western slope with the respective north and west entrances separated by 100km.

This week, in honor of a friend's birthday, I did something I've never done before here in Xinjiang - I went skiing. Well, technically I went snowboarding in China.
I'm from Texas, so snow was not a big part of my life growing up. Sure, I took a trip to Colorado to try my hand at skiing, but until today I had never strapped on a snowboard. The first two hours were a mess, with faceplant after faceplant.
Thankfully, the third and fourth hours were much better. We went to the Silk Road Resort (丝绸之路滑雪场), one of the better places to ski near the Xinjiang capital of Urumqi. Cost to get in was only 100 RMB for 4 hours, including ski rental.
It was a wild ride and I have plenty of bruises and soreness to show for it, but I can now punch some new holes in my man card, officially calling myself a snowboarder. Ha!

Driving Trip In China, A Road Trip To Yunnan (Part 2 : Lake Lugu)
Yunnan, is the most southwest province of China, which refers to 'the place south of the colorful clouds', or 'the place south of Yunling (cloudy ridge) Mountain'. Externally, it borders Vietnam, Laos and Burma; internally, it is neighbor to Guizhou, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan and Tibet. It is a land of various ethnic groups, landscapes, natural scenery, creatures, etc where one could taste the most aspects of our planet.
We flew from zhengzhou to kunming on April 15, 2018, And started this Driving Trip in yunnan. The specific itinerary is:
1. Kunming, April 15, 2018, See Part 1;
2. Lake Lugu, April 16-18, 2018, See Part 2;
3. Dongchuan Red Land Scenic Area, April 19, 2018, See Part 3;

Lake Cheonji on Mt. Baekdu
The crater lake at the top of Mt. Baekdu as seen from the south side on a clear day. This is right on the border between China and North Korea. The Chinese call the mountain Changbaishan (long, white mountain) and the lake Heavenly Lake.
CHINA: Huánglóng (黄龙) Sichuan
[210_1] Huánglóng (yellow dragon) is a World Heritage Site located 150 km NW of Chengdu, Sichuan. Known for its colorful pools formed by calcite deposits as well as diverse forest ecosystems, snow-capped peaks, waterfalls and hot springs, it is also home to many endangered species such as the Giant Panda.
