Lake Balaton is Europe’s largest lake that is shallow and available for bathing. During summer, the temperature of its water can reach 28-29 degrees, however it is not only a paradise for swimmers, yachtsmen and surfers, but also for anglers. The Southern coast of the 77 kilometers long lake is encompassed by the Somogy hills, while the Northern coast is circled by the wineyards situated on the previously vulcanic hills, called the Balaton Highlands, which reach until the Bakony hills. The landscape amazes the visitor with its unique beauty and diverseness. The past comes alive in castles and forts, temples, monastery ruins, mansions of noble families, old peasant houses, thatched roofed winecellars, old bridges and watermills.

[EN] We visited Tihany - a very famous place in Hungary at Lake Balaton, on the peninsula of the same name. The village is very well maintained and has buildings with characteristic roofs covered with reed from Lake Balaton. Interestingly, lavender is grown here - as in Provence. Products based on it (oils, perfumes, etc.), as well as the lavender bundles can be bought at stores located here (for example in Tihanyi Levendula Manufaktura). After passing through the village, we reach the Benedictine abbey situated at the top of the hill, from which we can have magnificent views of Lake Balaton. The whole scenery is amazing.

[HU] Meglátogattuk Tihanyot - egy nagyon híres magyarországi helyet a Balatonon, az azonos nevű félszigeten. A falu nagyon jól karbantartott, és jellegzetes tetővel ellátott épületek tartoznak, amelyek a Balaton-nádból származnak. Érdekes módon levendulát termesztenek itt - mint Provence-ban. Az alapuló termékek (olajok, parfümök stb.), Valamint a levendula kötegek itt vásárolhatók. A falu áthaladása után elérjük a domb tetején lévő bencés apátságot, ahonnan csodálatos kilátás nyílik a Balatonra. Az egész táj csodálatos.

[PL] Zwiedziliśmy Tihany - bardzo znaną miejscowość na Węgrzech nad Balatonem, na półwyspie o tej samej nazwie. Miejscowość jest bardzo zadbana i posiada budynki o charakterystycznych dachach pokrytych trzciną z Balatonu. Co ciekawe, uprawia się tu - jak w Prowansji - lawendę. Produkty oparte na niej (olejki, perfumy itp.), a także same wiązki lawendy można kupić w znajdujących się tu sklepach (na przykład w Tihanyi Levendula Manufaktura). Po przejściu przez miejscowość docieramy do opactwa benedyktyńskiego położonego na samym szczycie wzgórza, z którego rozciąga się wspaniały widok na Balaton.

Finally another upload after ages. Because, well im not really a pro vlogger hence i upload once in a blue moon only and how the video was edited is not really aesthetically arranged. It is only for the reason of saving this beautiful memories. Sharing this clips to you however to see the beautiful places that i am blessed to travel to.

Balatonudvari
The settlement has been in existence since the 11th century. The Catholic church has been standing since the 13th century. Besides the church is a cemetery with heart-shaped tombstones. The cemetery is under the protection of the Hungarian National Trust. The tombstones were carved from white limestone in the 18th-19th centuries in peasant Baroque style. The following legend is found in the book Golden Bridge by Gábor Lipták: There was a stonemason who once came to Udvari from the mountains. In the village, he met the daughter of a fisherman and fell in love with her. He wanted to marry her. The girl however was drowned in Lake Balaton during a storm. The man then carved heart shaped tombstones in memory of the girl.
Hegyestű
The partly quarried cone of the basalt volcano provides a particular view not only from far away, but it is amazing from a short distance, too. The material of the now strictly protected wall of basalt columns was once quarried by hand. From the top of the split basalt cap, there is a marvellous view over the Kál Basin and Lake Balaton. The exhibition areas display the life of the volcano, the history of the local basalt quarrying and the natural values of the National Park. The visitors can take part in a geological time travel by means of a stone park formed by the characteristic rock types of Transdanubia.
Szentbékkálla
There are interesting natural rock formations to be found to the west of the village. This is the Kőtenger (Stone Sea), which is a large area covered with huge stone blocks.
Nagyvázsony
In Roman Pannonia, and later in the Hungarian Middle Ages, Nagyvázsony stood at the crossing point of important routes. A castle was built here in the 15th century by the noble Vezselyi family, and the tower where the living quarters were located is still standing. After the family had died out, in 1472 King Matthias presented the castle to Kinizsi Pál, a young miller who fought heroically against the Turks.
