Banqiao District is a district and the seat of New Taipei, Taiwan. It has the third-highest population density in Taiwan. It was formerly the 22nd-densest city in the world, with over 24,000 people per km2. Until the December 25, 2010 creation of New Taipei City, Banqiao was an incorporated county-controlled city and the former seat of Taipei County.

    New Taipei City is a special municipality and the most populous city in Taiwan. Located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island's northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin, making it the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung. New Taipei City is bordered by Keelung to the northeast, Yilan County to the southeast, and Taoyuan to the southwest. It completely surrounds Taipei. Banqiao District is its municipal seat and biggest commercial area. Until 2010, the area that roughly corresponds to the present New Taipei City was known as Taipei County.

    The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Liberty Square. It is flanked on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall. The monument underwent a controversial renaming process in 2007 under Chen Shui-bian's government, which was subsequently reverted in 2009 with a change of government.
