Bärnau is the oldest town in the district of Tirschenreuth, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated near the border with the Czech Republic, 25 km northeast of Weiden in der Oberpfalz, and 26 km southwest of Mariánské Lázně.

The Großer Arber ; Czech: Velký Javor, Great Maple) or Great Arber, is the highest peak of the Bavarian/Bohemian Forest mountain range and in Lower Bavaria, with an elevation of 1,455.5 metres . As a result, it is known in the Lower Bavarian county of Regen and the Upper Palatine county of Cham as the King of the Bavarian Forest. Its summit region consists of paragneiss.

Zwar war der Winter noch nicht da - trotzdem konnten die Besucher hautnah erleben, was es im Mittelalter hieß, täglich ums Überleben zu kämpfen. Jetzt soll ja tatsächlich der Winter noch Kommen. Wir haben wieder ab 16. März für die Besucher geöffnet.

New Years 2006 Denise invited our football connection to her hometown of Bernau at the Chiemsee. Like a football trip is supposed to be it was heaps of fun and we had a great time at Germany's south. We went skiing, played in the snow, had a very nice new years celebration and talked nonsense non stop. Furthermore we were spoiled with heaps of good food by Denise's parents. For New Years Eve us boys had the task to build a snow bar, which we did very professionally as I thought. Most probably this bar still is standing, that's how solid we built it. :-) Twice our short trips took us over the border to Austria. Once we went skiing where our most professional skier got knocked down. For the remainder of the vacation the rest of us had to tie his shoe laces, close his jacket and cut his meet for him, good job Rieme! ;-) Another night we went to Salzburg to the casino. All of us dressed up and we were looking extremely sharp and ready to win the big money! Most of us didn't of course, but it still was a good time and we got to learn some of the games at the practise tables playing for chocolate. Well, I think I did way better playing for chocolate then for money... Thanks again for the invitation Denise, was a good trip! (I didn't include pictures from the people because I didn't know if everyone was fine with being shown here)
