In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet”, because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Iran was the ninth country I visited. Officially motorcycles over 250cc are illegal in Iran and woman are not allowed to ride. But Iran is a strange country where the law is one thing and the way people interpret it, another. Normally these laws apply to Iranian citizens but not so much to tourists on big bikes. During my stay I didn't have any problems at the border crossings or on the road when stopped by Police... and I was stopped a lot!
Despite how Iran is perceived in the world’s media and how distorted the public’s knowledge of Iran is, It's a stable country, open to tourism, with a low crime rate. All the people I've come across were kind and generous, even the Police! As a woman travelling solo, I've never felt safer than in Iran.
I entered Iran from Turkmenistan and traveled South. This Episode shows my first few days through Dasht-e Kavir (Salt Desert) from Bojnurd to Yazd.

Iran Trip Part 02, Khaled Nabi, Bojnurd, Esfidan, Mashhad, Gonabad, Nijapoor
Don't go to Iran, that's what I heard many times. So it was clear to me to go to Iran :D
And it was a good desicion. I met so many nice people and so many beautiful places.
This trip was not a typical touristic trip. Everybody is going South after Tehran to Shiraz, Esfahan or Yazd.
That's why I decided to go North and I never regretted it :D
Don't go to Mashhad, almost all of my iranian friends said :D I've seen there so many nice things.
I never expected that Iranians love Mercedes that much.

Mofakham mansion - North Khorasan - Bojnurd - Iran
The mansion was built at the instigation of Yar Mohammad Khan Shadlu, known as Sardar Mofakham, in 1300s AH during Nassereddin Shah’s reign. It was where Sardar Mofakham and his family lived and hosted state guests and politics.
The building was given to Public Health Administration by Sardar Mofakham’s heirs to be used as a hospital.

Bojnurd snow closes road
Snow closed the road from Bojnurd to Teharan, Iran, on March 10, 1972. Safaris bus 'King Kong' made three attempts over two days to leave town.
