Borculo is a town in the eastern Netherlands, in the municipality of Berkelland, Gelderland. Borculo was an independent municipality until 2005, when it merged with Eibergen, Neede, and Ruurlo. Other population centers in the municipality of Borculo were nearby Geesteren, Gelselaar, and Haarlo.

Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. In the eighth century there was a trading post, which soon developed into one of the few early medieval towns.

In the tenth century was the great revival of trade and Deventer continued well until into the late Middle Ages. As a city with municipal rights and imperial privileges Deventer was a very prominent member of the Hanseatic League.

Deventer is één van de oudste steden van Nederland. Al in de achtste eeuw was hier een handelsnederzetting die zich spoedig ontwikkelde tot één van de weinige grote vroeg-middeleeuwse steden.

In de tiende eeuw begon de grote opleving van de handel voor Deventer en die zette door tot ver in de late Middeleeuwen. Als stad met stadsrechten en keizerlijke privileges werd Deventer een zeer prominent lid van het Hanzeverbond.
