ABOUT THE MUSIC: This production is a continuous mix of three ambient works, each work featuring a different Hatfield sister :) The first song features Erin Hatfield on vocals, and later on a beautiful sounding hang drum provides some rhythmic backing, then featuring a vocal solo by Erin Hatfield around the 10:00 mark. The second song is a remix from my game, Pixelsphere. The third song features Ashley Hatfield. Ashley's vocals are washed in reverb and linger as chord swells in the background which are combined with a boy's choir sound. My wife Julie Hatfield's lovely vocals are featured in all three songs. Big thanks to the vocalists Erin, Ashley and Julie for helping me with this composition! ~Alex Smith. MUSIC NOTES: This ambient score features a very unique instrument: the hang drum. From Alex: They are pretty cool and organic sounding kind of like a steel drum that you hold in your hand, with the exception that the instrument itself is a specific type of resonator so it the way it rings after it's struck with your palm. Sverd i fjell (English: Swords in Rock) is a commemorative monument located in the Hafrsfjord neighborhood of Madla, a borough of the city of Stavanger in Rogaland, Norway.
The monument was created by sculptor Fritz Røed from Bryne and was unveiled by King Olav V of Norway in 1983.
The three bronze swords stand 10 metres (33 ft) tall and are planted into the rock of a small hill next to the fjord.
They commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord which by tradition took place there in the year 872, when King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown.
The largest sword represents the victorious Harald, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings.
The monument also represents peace, since the swords are planted into solid rock, so they may never be removed.
Domsteinane på Sola
Dating the ring is difficult, as no material is found that can be used directly for dating. Since more stone rings originate from the older Iron Age (500 BC - 550 AD), it is assumed that this ring also originates from this time. The ring, however, differs from the others with its mathematical sector section with 8 sectors and 24 bautestines.
A bautastein stands at the end of the sector line, while each sector has 2 bautasteines.
All the remains of the stone ring disappeared somewhere, some due to sandfire and erosion others because the farmers used the stone as brandstones.
Just south of Solastrand, we find one of Norway's most exciting and mysterious memories.
Here, only a short distance from the one runway at Sola Airport, in a dense pine forest, we find Norway's response to Stonehenge, says some. sola historielag, domsteinane
A stone ring that has attracted archaeologists and historians throughout the ages, and which has sometimes not been visible and has therefore had a mystery characteristic of them. For almost 10 years, Sola Historielag worked to get out and reconstruct this powerful symbol from a distant time.
This stone ring has been a mystery for historians and archaeologists ever since it was discovered in 1745. The first description we know of this ancient memory was written by the county director Bendix Christian de Fine in his description of the Stavanger County in 1745.
In 1860, antiques Nicolay Nicolaysen could not recover the Domsteins, but only a few years later in 1879, conservator Anders L. Lorange came from Bergen Museum on a trip to Sola and the stone circle on Sola was a natural goal. Using a local girl, he found the circle of stone. sola historielag, domsteinane Lorange was the first to give a more detailed description of the monument itself.
The next serious description of Domsteinane, who also gave new information and not least a new drawing, came from conservator Tor Helliesen, from Stavanger Museum. When Helliesen wrote about Domsteinane in 1902, just 30 years after Lorange had been there, there had been a number of changes. Now it was strange enough that the circle was almost complete.
