From my visit to Galway city. A quick visit. :-) Various places around the city. We walked around the city center, along the harbor, along the river, etc. We saw the university buildings. Nice. Hope to get back there one day. :-)

Nous nous sommes promenés à pied sur un sentier qui longe la rivière Corrib. Celle-ci traverse la ville de part en part et se jette ensuite dans la Baie de Galway.
Plusieurs ponts enjambent cette rivière, mais le Bridge Mills vaut certainement le détour. Entièrement en pierre, il aurait été construit au XVIe siècle. Les eaux d'une belle cascade s'écoulent juste à côté de ce pont.
Spanish Arch est un autre attrait touristique de Galway. Il s'agit en fait d'une muraille défensive située le long de la rivière Corrib. Cette ancienne porte aurait été érigée en 1584 et aurait eu pour mission de protéger le port de la ville.
Plusieurs festivals ont lieu dans cette ville. Lors de notre passage, le festival des bateaux traditionnels de Claddagh était en cours. Plusieurs personnes étaient rassemblées le long des quais pour observer ces magnifiques bateaux vikings. La musique traditionnelle donnait du rythme à cet événement.
Galway est sans contredit une ville très dynamique. Ses rues sont vivantes.
Quay Street est l'une de ces rues. Elle est populaire et très fréquentée par les touristes. On y retrouve de nombreux restaurants, pubs irlandais, boutiques, musées et bien d'autres commerces et lieux touristiques.
Lors de notre promenade, nous nous sommes également arrêtés sur le sentier pour observer les saumons qui tentaient de remonter la rivière Corrib. Nous avons eu l'opportunité d'en voir quelques-uns sauter hors de l'eau.
Quelques pêcheurs avaient également mis leur ligne à l'eau. Nous avons même vu un de ces pêcheurs capturer un saumon (voir
