The Basílica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebú commonly known as the Santo Niño Basilica, is a minor basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in the 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta, O.S.A. and Fray Diego de Herrera, O.S.A.. The oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, it is built on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño de Cebú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi. The icon, a statuette of the Child Jesus, is the same one presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the chief consort of Rajah Humabon upon the royal couple's christening on April 14, 1521. It was found by a soldier named Juan de Camuz forty years later, preserved in a wooden box, after Legazpi had razed a local village. Cebu Taoist Temple is a Taoist temple located in Beverly Hills Subdivision of Cebu City, Philippines. The temple is built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community in 1972. With an elevation of 300 metres above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes. Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. Back to exploring the #Philippines ! We only had 2 days there so we decided to see the 10 must visit waterfalls in Southern #Cebu besides the famous Kawasan falls! Cebu Camotes Islands Top Tourist Attractions with Todd Hata

HOW TO GET TO CAMOTES ISLANDS?

We flew in via Mactan Intl Airport in Cebu City. Then the next day we proceed to Cebu Ferry Passenger Terminal 1 and we took the 6:00am ferry ride with Oceanjet. Travel time was 2 hours.

Cost: P500 / way + P25 Terminal Fee (Cebu City) + P5 Terminal Fee (Camotes Island)

Cheaper Alternative but Longer Travel Time from Cebu City:
From Cebu City, take a bus from Cebu North Terminal heading to Danao port. Take a passenger pump boat from Danao to Poro, Camotes Island. Total travel time from the city is 4 hours.
Cost: P35 (bus) + P220 (boat) - please reconfirm rates upon arrival there

WHERE DID WE STAY IN CAMOTES ISLANDS?

For budget conscious traveler like me but needed an aircon room, I chose RMS Travelers Inn which I booked via Agoda. Nothing fancy. Room is big but toilet/shower is really small. (Yung tipong pwede ka ng maligo while doing that other thing. Hahaha.) We only stayed there for less than 12 hours just to sleep.

HOW ABOUT THE TOURS?

As soon as you got out of the pier, there will be a lot of tricycle / multicab drivers who’ll welcome you and offer you their services. All of them are accredited by the Tourism Office so you can choose what your gut tells you is a good one.

But based on our experience, I highly recommend Kuya Jed’s services. Siya yung napili naming that time and glad we did because he’s super nice. He’s one of those guides’ who goes for an extra mile just to make his clients happy. OK lang sa kanya kahit ginabi na kami and he even invited us to his relative’s house for lunch since it was the town fiesta then. Yes! Libre lunch!
