Cheongdo County is a county in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is connected to the national transportation grid by the Gyeongbu Line railroad and the Daegu-Busan Expressway. The seat of government is located in the center of the county, in Hwayang-eup. In the Samhan period, Cheongdo may have been the site of the small polity of Ieso-guk. It was later absorbed into Silla, and gained its current name of Cheongdo in 940. The county's nine subdivisions were established in 1919. The county government moved to its current location in 1961. Pyochungsa, originally Jungnimsa, is a Korean Buddhist temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It stands on the slopes of Jaeyaksan mountain near Cheonhwangsan in the Yeongnam Alps in Danjang-myeon, northern Miryang, South Korea. Pyochungsa was first established by Wonhyo in 654 under the name Jungnimsa. It was rebuilt at its present location by Hwangmyeon in 857, in the reign of the Silla king Heungdeok. In the Goryeo period, the National Preceptor Iryeon gathered more than a thousand monks there. After Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea in the late 16th century, the temple was renamed Pyochuongsa in honor of Songun Yu Jeong, the monk who led various righteous armies against the Japanese. How to Get Drunk in South Korea - Cheongdo Wine Tunnel

The three main take aways from this obscure thing to do in Korea were bats, bangtan - or BTS - and booze.

The wine tunnel was such a great load of fun for me to explore - Im especially happy that i got to try traditional Korean wine mukbang style - drinking in Korea and especially different kinds of Korean wine are a huge part of Korean culture, so to see that from a totally different light was fascinating. - as a day trip from Seoul it was perfect! Outside Seoul has a tonne of these kinds of things to do, and as much BTS vlog in Korea as inside Seoul.

I really believe that day trips from Seoul are a great way to see the rest of Korea especially atlas obscura korea type places that give you real adventures in Asia, and getting you outside Seoul
