Hidden Gems of New Hampshire: Wentworth State Park
Lake Wentworth is a smaller, quieter sister to Lake Winnipesaukee and the beach at Wentworth State Park is a great way to access it.
The park has a nice sandy beach with a gradual slope and there are both shady & sunny areas on the beach making it a great location for a family day by the lake. The water remains pretty calm here and is a good temperature for swimming. It’s also shallow throughout much of the swimming area so kids can splash around quite easily.

Green Mountain (Effingham, NH)
Green Mountain was my last hike, but I put off uploading the video until now; anyway, here it is! The hike up was steep and icy in parts, but the views from the fire tower were good.

Echo Lake State Park, NH
Echo Lake State Park is a great place to take the family for a swim and picnic. A scenic trail around the lake provides great views of White Horse Ledge which towers over the lake. A 1.7 mile-long auto road and hiking trails lead to the top of Cathedral Ledge where views across the Saco River Valley to the White Mountains can be enjoyed. Both Cathedral and nearby White Horse ledges are popular rock and ice climbing walls.
Great Hill Tamworth, NH
NH Fire Tower List map…
Our quest to stand at every site where a fire tower stands, once stood or was proposed, brought us to Great Hill #57 for us on the NH Fire Tower List. This was an easy hike as we went up the off-road trails taking the 2nd left out to Camp Hemenway. From the camp we took the trail heading up and it brought us right up to the fire tower. The views were great! We took the Betty Path/Trail back down to the road leading down to the parking lot.
