Chonburi is an eastern province of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Rayong. To the west is the Gulf of Thailand. Chonburi is home to Thailand's largest tourist-oriented city, Pattaya . It is home to Thailand's largest and primary seaport. Due to these factors, the province's population is growing rapidly, with currently some 1.7 million residents . The registered population as of 31 December 2012 was 1.36 million.

    Louis Joseph Kenny Tussaud was the great-grandson of Marie Tussaud, creator of the Madame Tussauds wax museums. He worked at Madame Tussauds museum as a wax figure sculptor but left when his brother John Theodore Tussaud became chief artist and manager of the museum after a limited company was formed in 1888 and sold in 1889. The main shareholder was Edwin Josiah Poyser. Louis Tussaud created a waxwork museum in London, 207 Regent Street, which opened 24 December 1890. The Regent Street waxwork museum was destroyed in a fire on 20 June 1891. He moved to Blackpool in 1900. He first set up a waxworks in Blackpool in the basement of the Hippodrome Theatre, Church Street, opening it in July 1900.     The Phra Chuthathut Palace or Sichang Palace is a summer royal residence during the reign of King Chulalongkorn on the islands of Ko Sichang District, Chonburi Province. After the French occupied the island during a conflict with Thailand over control of neighboring Laos in 1893 the royal residence was abandoned. In present day Chulalongkorn University use the palace and area for Sichang Marine Science Research and Training Station and museum of Chulalongkorn University.
