World Heritage - Ancient Beech Forests of Germany
On 25 June 2011, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee added five of Germany's beech forest regions to the World Heritage List. This extended the transboundary world natural heritage site Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians, located in the Slovak Republic and Ukraine, to include a number of German forest regions, and renamed it Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Ancient Beech Forests of Germany.
The German part includes selected forest regions of the National Parks Hainich in Thuringia, Kellerwald-Edersee in Hesse, Jasmund and Müritz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and the forest of Grumsin in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve in Brandenburg. These are the most valuable remaining examples of large, undisturbed beech forests in Germany.

Brandenburg, Germany Travel Video - Brandenburg may not be Venice, but this pretty town 50km west of Berlin was definitely shaped by water. Set amid a pastoral landscape of lakes, rivers and canals, it has a historic centre with some fine examples of northern German red-brick architecture. First settled by Slavs in the 6th century, Brandenburg was a bishopric in the early Middle Ages and the capital of the margraviate (territory ruled by a margrave, a German nobleman ranking above a count) until the 15th century. Darker times arrived when the Nazis picked the town to carry out their forced euthanasia programme for the mentally disabled, killing tens of thousands. Wartime bombing and GDR neglect left their scars, but these have healed nicely, making Brandenburg once again an attractive day trip from Berlin or Potsdam.

Easter Market - In A Berlin Minute (Week 51)

It's that wonderful time of the year: Easter, Passover, Spring Rites... however you celebrate this time of renewal and rebirth... and its also my birthday. So Ill keep it short.
On Alexanderplatz there is currently an Easter Market, which is like a Christmas Market with less snow. I filmed it for you. The music is by my friend Jason Matherne (Goonygoogoo Productions) and is called Clown Face.
