A DAY IN DOURO
What a place!
We recently visited Porto in Portugal and took the opportunity to visit the unforgettable Douro Port Wine region, about 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from Porto.
The place is stunning, and drenched in sunlight, we were blessed with very warm spring like weather, even in late Febrauary!
Whilst visiting the area we did some Port Wine tasting at Quinta Do Panascal, which is home to some of the best of Fonseca Ports.
Then driving along the famous N222 road, we experienced true Portuguese hospitality in the village of Pinhao, and namely the unforgettable Qualifer Charcuterie !
The journey is well worth it for any one staying Porto for more than 3 days. There is also a train that travels regularly, dropping you from Porto directly to the heart of the region, Pinhao.

Paiva Walkways are located on the left bank of the Paiva River, in Arouca municipality, Aveiro, Portugal. They are 8 km that provide a walk untouched, surrounded by unique beauty of landscapes, in an authentic natural sanctuary along the brave waters downhills, quartz crystals and endangered species in Europe. The route extends from the river beaches of Areinho and Espiunca, lying between them, the Vau beach. A journey through biology, geology and archeology that will remain, of course, in heart, soul and in mind of any nature lover. This area is labeled as Geopark, recognised by UNESCO as a Geological Heritage of Humanity.
