WHAT TO DO IN ZELL AM SEE-KAPRUN in 60 seconds
Austria in a nutshell, that’s Zell am See-Kaprun in 60 seconds: mighty mountains and pretty towns, lush meadows and cute llamas! Well…okay, it did surprise us, too! Here are our summer highlights.

00:04 Mitterberghof, Schützingalm
So many incredible views, so many photopoints! If you're being framed in Zell am See-Kaprun, it's actually a good thing! That's how peaceful it is.
00:07 Seegasse, Zell am See
Pretty half-timbered houses and a very relaxed vibe make the District's capital a must-see. Have a local beer at the lake and just soak in the atmosphere, especially when the annual Seefest is that turns the place into a living fairytale.
00:10 Jodelschule, Uttendorf, Pinzgau
This longtime rural tradition of the Alpine region is as hard to do as it is fascinating. Tony of Die Jodelschule („the yodel school) gives classes and even awards yodel diplomas. More:
00:13 Kaiserschmarrn
„Emperor's Nonsense is the literal translation of Austria's most famous dessert: Kaiserschmarrn. It has its name from the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I who loved his shredded pancake with raisins and plums.
00:15 Elisabethkapelle, Schmitten
This nice little chapel at the Schmitten was dedicated to legendary Empress Elisabeth of Austria who apparently loved her early morning hikes in the region – as much as her beloved Emperor Franz Joseph I (when he wasn't eating Kaiserschmarrn).
00:20 E-Motocross Park, areitXpress mountain station
If hiking is too boring for you – this is the place to go! But be careful, E-Motocross is not as easy as it looks or sounds. Arne crashed numerous times.
00:23 SUPcenter, Lake Zell
Yep, the SUP trend has reached Lake Zell, too. It's a fantastic way of exploring the lake – as long as you watch out for the sail boarders, pedal boats, electric boats and tourist cruises ☺

What a trip! We went with SennAir Helicopter and had really unique views. Such an experience does have its price of course. In this case 139,- Euros for 15 minutes.
00:39 Art on the Mountain, Schmitten
Even art buffs get their share, with sometimes quirky, sometimes genius art installations at the Schmitten. There’s lots of funny stuff you can discover along the way.
00:40 Hiking to 4 Reservoirs, Schmitten
Hiking is huge in Zell am See-Kaprun. The numerous reservoirs make for nice day trips. The big round is 5.7km long and can be done in 2 hours. More:

The two high mountain reservoirs in Kaprun almost look like fjords. Shuttle buses and Europe’s largest open inclined lift at Lärchwand take you to this almost mythical place. More:

Who doesn’t want to take a walk with llamas and alpacas? The 4Motion Team makes it possible. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take one back home. More:

These info stations in an amazing 360m-long cave offer interesting insights into the Kitzsteinhorn. The walk terminates at the region’s highest panoramic platform. We felt like hobbits in dwarf Gimli’s home.

A 3000 metre peak has never been that easy – as you are only climbing the last 200 altitude metres. The 360° view was absolutely...we would have said „amazing“, but we were actually surrounded by fog. More:

Mountain bike buffs can let off steam on these scenic Freeride Trails from 3.1 - 7.7 km:
01:01 Tauern Spa, Kaprun
And if even hiking is too much for you, then you can always just hang around in this amazing spa with numerous saunas (try the herbal one!), swimming pools and massage offers. Perfect to get ready for another round of Kaiserschmarrn.

Mountain Resort Schönblick - Holiday in Rauris
The Mountain Resort Schönblick, newly built in 2008, nestled perfectly into the idyllic resort, is on the far side of Rauris. The apartment complex is less than 300 m from the valley station, from where you can comfortably access the ski region of the Hochalmbahn. The centre with shopping and amenities is reached in just 200 m.
In the valley, several cross-country trails pass right by the apartment, promising with a total of 45 km of trails a perfect day of winter sports in the varied and beautiful natural landscape.
The generous rooms with bath, separate WC, combined living area/kitchenette, and balcony provide sophisticated comfort. The apartments are ideal for self-catering. The kitchenette is complete with electric hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave.
