Dobrovo is a settlement the Littoral region of Slovenia, close to the border with Italy. It is the administrative centre of the Municipality of Brda. It lies on the road that connects the Friuli Plain and the Soča Valley. Dobrovo Castle is a castle in the settlement built around 1600 on the foundations of an older structure. It is an almost perfect square in plan with square turrets on each corner. It houses an art gallery and a museum. The castle chapel is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and belongs to the Parish of Biljana.

During the WorldRider 2018 Balkan Adventure I had the opportunity to explore the wines of Slovenia. Here in Goriska Brda at the Ščurek Wine Estate after tasting Ščurek's portfolio of white and red wines, Tomas and Stojan Ščurek join me and other friends where we gather up the bottles of wines from other producers in this region who have contributed to bringing worldwide attention to Slovenian Wines.

La Slovenia è uno stato dell'Europa centrale confinante ad ovest con l'Italia, a nord con l'Austria, ad est con l'Ungheria e a sud con la Croazia. È bagnata a sud-ovest (golfo di Trieste) dal mar Adriatico, e la capitale è Lubiana.

Dal 1 maggio 2004 la Slovenia è stato membro dell'Unione europea e dal 1 gennaio 2007 l'euro è subentrato alla moneta nazionale, il tallero sloveno.

In Slovenia c'è una comunità autoctona italiana nella parte istriana, ed una ungherese ad est; crescente è l'immigrazione serba e bosniaca. La festa nazionale ricorre il 25 giugno, anniversario della dichiarazione d'indipendenza del 1991.
