Castle Doornenburg (Dutch: Kasteel Doornenburg is a Dutch castle from the 13th century. The castle is located in the eastern part of the province of Gelderland, near the village of Doornenburg. It is one of the biggest and most well-preserved castles in the Netherlands. It consists of the main castle and a front castle which are connected via a small wooden bridge. The castle was originally a fortified manor built in the 9th century. At this stage, it was known as the Villa Dorenburc. It wasn't until the 13th century that it was converted into a proper castle. 1. De Hoge Veluwe National Park Hoenderloo
Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe is a Dutch national park in the province of Gelderland near the cities of Ede, Wageningen, Arnhem and Apeldoorn. It is approximately 55 square kilometers in area, consisting of heathlands, sand dunes, and woodlands. It is situated in the Veluwe, the area of the largest terminal moraine in the Netherlands. Most of the landscape of the park and the Veluwe was created during the last Ice Age. The alternating sand dune areas and heathlands may have been caused by human utilization of the surrounding lands. The park forms one of the largest continuous nature reserves in the Netherlands.

2. Apenheul Apeldoorn
Apenheul Primate Park is a zoo in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. It specializes in apes and monkeys. It opened in 1971 and was the first zoo in the world where monkeys could walk around freely in the forest and between the visitors. It started with just a few species, now it displays more than 30 different primates, among them bonobo, gorilla and orangutan.

One of the biggest impressions from my last year's trip to the Netherlands was the amount of old castles, it's like wherever in the country you are, most likely there are couple of amazing castles within easy reach. How cool is that?

Being a huge fan of architecture, beautiful places and the Netherlands, I welcomed the opportunity to visit centuries-old castle with 32 hectares of gardens as a true blessing!

The castle itself was renovated last winter and is in a perfect condition, with historical interiors showing how its last owners, family of an artist, used to live (0:48)

But the gardens (1:31), this is what amazed me the most - true masterpiece of landscape design! I remember I had pretty the same feeling at Disneyland: you look at all the beautiful details, realize how much it took to create all this beauty, you feel the love people put in everything there.. Here are some highlights: rosarium (1:39), Indonesian zone (3:31), Japanese corner (3:06), Chinese pond & rocks (3:16), Casa Verde with palms and koi fish (gift from Japan!) (2:49), waterfalls (2:37), flamingos, parrots - to mention just a few! I hope I managed to re-create the peaceful atmosphere of the gardens, but you can see more on their YouTube channel and Instagram (check the links below!)

Arcen village (4:19) (if you dare call a village couple of streets filled with fancy dark-brown brick houses with lawns each worth a magazine cover) is where a famous ice cream spot is located - Ijs Salon Clevers, with great variety of tastes and nice terrace overlooking the river. Pet-friendly! (4:41)

Castle helds Elfia - Elf Fantasy fair - every year in September. I can't imagine better venue for festival like this! Have a look at Elfia 2016 here:

Driemaal per jaar worden de Zandfeesten in het hart van de stad Brugge georganiseerd. Lekker genieten van muziek en slenteren langs de kraampjes die al heel vroeg in de morgen opgesteld staan op 't Zand, het Beursplein, het Koning Albertpark en de Hauwerstraat. Zowel de gepassioneerde verzamelaar als de geïnteresseerde voorbijganger komen ogen tekort tijdens dit jaarlijks terugkerend evenement. Een bijzondere en warme sfeer. Wat is er mooier dan een heerlijk dagje langs een antieke, brocante en rommelmarkt te slenteren in de wondermooie stad Brugge. Niets! Een echte aanrader dus.

Three times a year they organise the Zandfeesten in the heart of the city of Bruges. You can enjoy music and strolling along the stalls of the antique market and jumble sale that are set up very early in the morning on 't Zand, Beursplein, Koning Albertpark and Hauwerstraat. Both the passionate collector and the interested passer-by will not be able to see enough during this annual event. A special and warm atmosphere. What could be better than to spend a wonderful day strolling along this flea market in the beautiful city of Bruges. Nothing! Highly recommended for everyone.

Trois fois par annéé, les Fêtes de sable ( en néerlandais : Zandfeesten ) ont lieu dans le coeur de la cité historique de Bruges. Vivez, bougez, la musique vous accompagne. C'est le plus grand marché aux puces, brocante et vide-grenier de la ville où chaque collectionneur passionné et passant trouvent son chemin. Il y règne une atmosphère chaleureuse, agréable, intime et invitante. Une belle journée dans une ville magnifique. C'est un véritable must.

Genießen Sie Musik und Spaziergänge an den Ständen des Antiquitätenmarktes die sehr früh am Morgen auf 't Zand, Beursplein, Koning Albertpark und Hauwerstraat eingerichtet sind. Sowohl der leidenschaftliche Sammler als auch der interessierte Passant werden bei dieser jährlichen Veranstaltung nicht genug sehen können. Eine besondere und warme Atmosphäre. Was gibt es Schöneres, als einen wunderschönen Tag auf diesem Flohmarkt in der schönen Stadt Brügge zu verbringen. Nichts! Sehr empfehlenswert für alle.
