Driving on Highway 98 from the junction with Route 65 (southwest of Tallahassee, Florida's capital) up to the outskirts of Panama City Beach, with Gulf of Mexico on the left side.
In this beautiful area you'll drive thru communities of Eastpoint, Apalachicola, Port St Joe, Highland View, Mexico Beach (where CST time zone starts), driving by Tyndall AFB, then Panama City and at the end arriving at beautiful resort of Panama City Beach.

RV Travel Life | The Forgotten Coast After Hurricane Michael
Two months ago Hurricane Michael ripped through the Forgotten coast leaving behind a wake of devastation. Mexico City Beach seemed to have been hit the hardest and is still recovering (December 2018).
We stayed at Ho Hum RV Park which was a great way to relax. The RV Park is actually on the coast, it has a small beach, fishing pier, great wifi, decent nightly rates, propane service, and laundry. They do not offer refunds so make sure you only book the days you will be there!
Carrabelle, FL is a small coastal town rich with history. The town was heavily involved with trade of timber, cotton, and sea food, and hosted Camp Johnston where they trained for Normandy! This town is a little more touristy today but still produces cotton and timber.
Apalachicola National Forest is right next door, and is a great way to camp amongst palm trees and forest. The scenic drive through the area was one of the most peaceful and scenic national forests we have been to. They have recently reopened the roads to drive through this area as well.
St. George Island plays a crucial role in protecting Carrabelle, and the coast, historically and from hurricanes. It was much more effected by hurricane Michael, than Carrabelle but the island is recovering very quickly. Almost all of the businesses are opened and the homes are being restored. On the Eastern side of the island is a 9 mile stretch of unoccupied beach with some of the best sunrises and sunsets we have ever seen.
The Lighthouses in Carrabelle and St. George Island were really fun to explore and gave us unique vantage points on the islands. They are also rich with history and you should definitely not miss the chance to see them if you are in the area!
