Eckernförde is a German town in Schleswig-Holstein, Kreis Rendsburg-Eckernförde, on the coast of the Baltic Sea approximately 30 km northwest of Kiel. The population is about 23,000. Eckernförde is a popular tourist destination in northern Germany.

1. Viking Museum Haithabu (Wikinger Museum) Schleswig
The Hedeby Viking Museum is a museum near the site of Hedeby, a former medieval city in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany focusing on the Viking Age history of the region. While the region is now in modern Germany, it was once the oldest city in Denmark until it was ceded in 1864. The museum features reconstructions of various Viking Age dwellings, ships, and houses numerous artifacts discovered during the ongoing archaeological research of the area.

Germany: Heading to the Baltic Sea: Strande

Strande is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany at the Kiel Fjord.
It is about 20 kilometers north of the city of Kiel on the peninsula Dänischer Wohld on the Baltic Sea.
Beside the marina and related activities, there are two sandy beaches north and south of the harbor, the northern has infrastructure such as beach chairs.
