Fischbach bei Dahn is a municipality in Südwestpfalz district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. The hollow in which Fischbach lies is surrounded by hills rising to around 400 metres above sea level. The highest hills in the general area are: to the northeast the Große Eyberg and, to the south, beyond the French border, the Maimont . The summits of both hills are about four kilometres from the village. When the US military began to downsize in the 1990s, the small US Army posts associated with Husterhoeh Kaserne were returned to Germany, including ones located at Maßweiler, Munchweiler, Fischbach, and Clausen.

  • 1. Castle of Hohenzollern Hechingen
    Hohenzollern Castle is the ancestral seat of the imperial House of Hohenzollern. The third of three hilltop castles on the site, it is located atop Mount Hohenzollern, above and south of Hechingen, on the edge of the Swabian Jura of central Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The first fortress on the mountain was constructed in the early 11th century. Over the years the House of Hohenzollern split several times, but the castle remained in the Swabian branch, the dynastic seniors of the Franconian-Brandenburgian cadet branch that later acquired its own imperial throne. This castle was completely destroyed in 1423 after a ten-month siege by the free imperial cities of Swabia.
