  • 1. Mount Papandayan Garut
    Mount Papandayan is a complex stratovolcano, located in Garut Regency, to the southeast of the city of Bandung in West Java, Indonesia. It is about 15 km to the southwest of the town of Garut. At the summit, there are four large craters which contain active fumarole fields. An eruption in 1772 caused the northeast flank to collapse producing a catastrophic debris avalanche that destroyed 40 villages and killed nearly 3,000 people. The eruption truncated the volcano into a broad shape with two peaks and a flat area 1.1 km wide with Alun-Alun crater in the middle, making the mountain appear as a twin volcano; one of the peaks is called Papandayan and the other Mount Puntang.Since 1772, only small phreatic eruptions were recorded before an explosive eruption that began in November 2002.     Kamojang, popularly known as Kawah Kamojang or , is a geothermal field and tourist spot in West Java, Indonesia. The crater is located in sub-district Ibun in the Bandung Regency, approximately 45 km to the southeast of Bandung through the towns of Majalaya and Ibun. The crater can also be reached from the opposite direction through the town of Garut, in Garut Regency . The volcano that the crater is located on is Mount Guntur but the crater itself is listed as an active volcano of Indonesia because of its geothermal activities.

    Mount Guntur or Gunung Guntur is an active stratovolcano in western Java. It is part of a complex of several overlapping stratovolcanoes about 10 km northwest of the city of Garut. The last eruption was in 1847. At an elevation of 2,249 m , Mount Guntur rises about 1,500 m above the plain of Garut. It produced frequent explosive eruptions in the 19th century, making it one of the most active volcanoes of western Java. Since then it has not erupted. The name Guntur means thunder in the Indonesian language. The Kamojang crater, a geothermal power field and a tourist site, is located on the slopes of Mount Guntur.

  • 9. Cangkuang Temple Garut
    Cangkuang is a small 8th-century Shivaist candi located in Kampung Pulo village, Cangkuang, Kecamatan Leles, Garut Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The temple is one of very few Hindu-Buddhist temples discovered in West Java, other temples include Batujaya and Bojongmenje temple. Three meters to the south of the temple is an ancient Islamic tomb of Embah Dalem Arief Muhammad, believed to be the community elders of Cangkuang village during the Islamization of Sundanese in the 17th century.
