Garut & Tasik Trip : Magical Places In West Java
Our adventure started from Mt. Galunggung which is a strato volcano in west Java. A lake had been formed at the bottom of the crater and it’s surrounded by green. Although it is a volcanic spot, there was no sulfur smell. We have to climb 620 staircases to reach the top of the crater. It was exhausting but we were enjoying the view along the journey. All our struggle are paid off until we reach the top. The fresh air, cool weather, and green panorama were so relaxing.
You could go down to the bottom of the crater if you want. People usually camp down there overnight. Aside from its mystical stories, Gallungung is beautiful and suit for those who need calm one's mind.
After visited Mt. Galunggung, we headed to Naga Village which is located not far from Galunggung. The village lies near the main road that connects Garut & Tasikmalaya. Surrounded by Sacred Forrest & Forbidden Forrest, Naga people are mostly farmers and craftsmen.
You could stay in the village for a couple days if you've been granted permission to stay from the village chief. After explored the village we continued our journey to Garut and stayed there for one night. We choosed Banyu Alam Resort for rest.
Banyu Alam has a great view. Some bungalows are built around the pond. Mt.Guntur is located on the northwest of the resorts, we could enjoy the scenery in the morning. Since Garut is famous for its natural hot springs, some bungalows also have mini hot water pool. The next day we went to Kamojang Crater which is inline for our return journey to Jakarta. Kamojang Crater is geothermal field and tourist spot in west Java. It's located between Bandung & Garut regency. The first geothermal wells in Indonesia were drilled at Kamojang in 1926 by the Dutch colonial government. Currently there are geothermal energy power plants which established by Pertamina around this area. The place was really magical! You could have sauna at the natural hotspring while eating some eggs (which is boiled with the natural hotspring also). The forest were filled by hot steam with no sulphur smell. Very nice place to visit!
