Why Do Americans Ask How Are You? But Don't Seem to Care About Your Answer?

How Are you? Fine, how are you? Fine, thanks. Bye. Bye... A typical American conversation that sometimes confuses and/or upsets people when wondering about the US. Why would they ask me how I am doing if they don't actually want to know?
This is not a way for Americans to insult people. In the US you ask someone How are you? as a way to say hi. That is why the replies are almost always, Fine, thanks, how are you? Even if you aren't fine. It's just Americans saying hi.
Weird Americanisms. Why are Americans so silly? The English Language makes no sense!

While I love living in the Cayman Islands, no place in the world is perfect. In this video I share some of the less glamorous parts to living on this tropical island. Things that you wouldn't find in a glossy travel magazine. Of course, I am well aware that these are very minor, 'first world problems.' But they are things you should brace yourself for that not everyone would know when considering Grand Cayman or it's Caribbean sister islands as their future home. Now please excuse me whilst I soothe my island fever with a Cayman sunset.

According to officials in San Juan Puerto Rico, 4 cruise ships visited the island last week and 17,000 passengers enjoyed a visit for the day. The economic impact was estimated to be $1.5 million or $85.00 per passenger. The question to my viewers is, do you spend more or less than that amount when you do a shore excursion? I had a number of interesting replies in this video.

The Train to Nowhere !! Southend Pier, UK

Southend Pier is the longest Pier in the world, about 1.33 miles. It is located at Southend-On-Sea, United Kingdom.
Take a train from London to Southend Victoria. Get off at Southend Victoria and just walk straight to the Seafront. From the Seafront, either walk 1.33 miles to the end of the Pier or take a mini-train and just enjoy!! The train fare is about 5 pounds and walking is 1 pound.
