Knysna South Africa - The Heart of the Garden Route | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, Knysna (pronounced as ‘ny-zah’), is one of the country’s most famous locations. It is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, wildlife and golden beaches. The breathtakingly pretty lagoon is now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
The endangered Knysna seahorse is named after the town and can be spotted during a good snorkeling session in the estuary.
We really enjoyed the view from the heads - a striking geological spot made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna lagoon. We were told that from the banks of the rocks we could see whales because Knysna is on the migratory route of the Southern Right and other species but unfortunately we weren't able to see one these marine mammals.

Auch wenn es Bindfäden geregnet hat und unsere Pläne ursprünglich eigentlich andere waren, hatten wir einen wundervollen Tag in und um den Park mit tollen Tiersichtungen und einer abenteuerlichen Unterkunft Monzi Safaris.

Ende 2018 war es endlich soweit, wir machten uns auf den Weg nach Südafrika, genauer gesagt in die Provinz KwaZulu-Natal.

Elephant Riding at Addo Elephant Safari Lodge, South Africa.
This is footage of taken by our Africa General Manager, Albee Yeend, while staying at Addo Elephant Safari Lodge in South Africa, whilst riding an elehpant! Shot on the 25 March 2009..... I was lucky enough to be flown by Mark Andrews, (who owns the charter company African Ramble and Addo Elephant Safari Lodge),from Plettenberg Bay to Addo, which is a stunning 60 minute scenic flight. Addo Elephant Back Safaris and Lodge is situated within the Greater Addo Elephant National Park and offers tented suites on elevated wooden decks.
When we arrived we had a delicious lunch next to a waterhole and then in the late afternoon we were taken for a drive around, stopping for sundowners on platform perched high up with stunning views. The following morning, we went riding on the elephants, which was a wonderful experience and one that we felt for a few days afterwards!
