Tentang Pulau Penyengat :

Menurut cerita, pulau mungil di muara Sungai Riau, Pulau Bintan ini sudah lama dikenal oleh para pelaut sejak berabad-abad yang lalu karena menjadi tempat persinggahan untuk mengambil air tawar yang cukup banyak tersedia di pulau ini. Belum terdapat catatan tertulis tentang asal mula nama pulau ini. Namun, dari cerita rakyat setempat, nama ini berasal dari nama hewan sebangsa serangga yang mempunyai sengat. Menurut cerita tersebut, ada para pelaut yang melanggar pantang-larang ketika mengambil air, maka mereka diserang oleh ratusan serangga berbisa. Binatang ini yang kemudian dipanggil Penyengat dan pulau tersebut dipanggil dengan Pulau Penyengat. Sementara orang-orang Belanda menyebut pulau tersebut dengan nama Pulau Mars.[1][3]
Tatkala pusat pemerintahan Kerajaan Riau bertempat di pulau itu ditambah menjadi Pulau Penyengat Inderasakti. Pada 1803, Pulau Penyengat telah dibangun dari sebuah pusat pertahanan menjadi negeri dan kemudian berkedudukan Yang Dipertuan Muda Kerajaan Riau-Lingga sementara Sultan berkediaman resmi di Daik-Lingga. Pada tahun 1900, Sultan Riau-Lingga pindah ke Pulau Penyengat. Sejak itu lengkaplah peran Pulau Penyengat sebagai pusat pemerintahan, adat istiadat, agama Islam dan kebudayaan Melayu.[3]

Wisata Pulau Bintan - Danau Biru
Danau Biru yang ada di Pulau Bintan mirip dengan Danau Kaolin yang ada di Provinsi Bangka Belitung. Danau Biru Bintan ini tempatnya di pinggir jalan utama. When you mention satay to anyone in the Klang Valley the word Kajang will almost always follow. Kajang satay is famous for having chunkier bits of meat than the norm, its fragrant and distinctive marinade which is a mix of turmeric, lemongrass and other aromatics and for its peanut sauce which features a dollop of sambal or chilli sauce.
In this video we head out to Kajang and embark on a mini satay crawl! Malaysian street food here we come! First stop is Willy Satay- an eatery parked alongside a busy highway as part of the food court Ramal Food Junction. The satay here indeed feature generous cuts of meat- perfectly charred and juicy. We sample the mutton, beef and chicken. All are excellent!
Next up Satay Kajang Haji Samuri, a satay empire which has numerous stores in the Klang Valley. This is the spot that’s been recommended to us numerous times. Aside from the usual satay Haji Samuri offer exotic meats such as rabbit and venison but unfortunately neither of these are available at the time of our visit. Instead we try their tripe, liver, chicken and fish satay. What we love about Haji Samuri are the generous bowl of peanut sauce they provide for dipping as well as the sambal which is more chilli oil than chilli sauce. Their satay however are disappointing. They’re cold and unlike Willy Satay whose satay didn’t need the peanut sauce to provide flavour, Haji Samuri’s satay rely on the peanut sauce for theirs.
Our plan for our final stop is foiled when we find Medan Satay closed so we head back into KL and visit Jalan Alor to the satay stall next to Wong Ah Wah (you can eat at Wong Ah Wah and also order satay) which we know is great. The cuts of meat are definitely smaller than those of Kajang’s satay. We sample the beef and the chicken both of which are juicy and tender.
The winner of the day is Willy Satay! Juicy, well marinated, tasty satay which we would definitely return for!
