Pelkor Chode Monastery (known also as Palcho Monastery), is a Buddhist Monastery in Gyantse, a city that used to be in the past the third largest city in Tibet. The history of the monastery starts from the 9th century, but the main buildings are from the 15th century. The Gyantse Kumbum (9 story stupa, representing 3D mandala) is located at the monastery ground. Also views of the Gyantse Dzong (Gyantse Fort).

Top 10 Holy Lakes in Tibet - Tibet Tour
Tibet, the plateau with the largest number of alpine lakes on Earth, covers totally 23,800 square kilometers lakes, representing thirty percent of national lake resources. Overall, there are more than one thousand lakes, big or small, three of which exceed one thousand square kilometers, namely Namtso, Siling lake and Zhari Namco. Geographically, lakes in Tibet consist of endorheic lakes and exorheic lakes. The former were formed by continuous crustal movement and were scattered mainly in the north and south of Tibet whereas the latter came into existence as a result of mudslide, volcanic eruption and melted snow or glaciers.
To ordinary tourists to Tibet, Lakes are must-see attractions in their tour plan, the top three visited lakes are Namtso Lake,( the biggest lake in Tibet), and Yamdrok Tso Lake( one of the most sacred lakes in Tibet) and Manasarovar Lake ( a holy lake to the southeast of Mt. Kailash), with many more featuring distinct natural scenery. As it is virtually impossible to cover all the lakes in Tibet, 10 major lakes are to be discussed as follows.

Shigatse and Gyantse - Tibet Part 2
SHIGATSE:Shigatse is the second biggest city in Tibet and capital of the Tsang Province. The main highlight of this place is the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery. It is one of the six great Gelugpa monasteries and home of the Panchen Lama - who is, by the way still hidden by the Chinese. Situated at the foot of Drölma Ri, there is also a nice Kora (or pilgrimage) around the monastery possible. Dont miss it, since you will have a great view over the huge monastery and the complete city of Shigatse.
GYANTSE: Gyantse is a little town (the third biggest in Tibet though) dominated by the Gyantse Dzong from the top of a mountain. From far away you can see the Dzong reigning from the peak over this part of the fertile Nyang-Chu valley. The main attraction is the Pelkor Chöde Monastery with its Kumbum Chörten, the largest Chörten in Tibet.Gyantse offers a beautiful monastery embraced by a hillside and a defencsiv wall around it. Inside this area you also find the Kumbu Chörten (or Stupa). You can walk up all the way over five floors. Take your time, because on every floor there are plenty of rooms beautifully decorated with Bhuddas and Demons. From the top you have a great outlook over the monastery and the town all the way to the Gyantse Dzong. The whole area gets dominated by the Gyantse Dzong that reigns on the top of a mountain.Dont miss to inhale this incredible atmosphere inside the monastery!

A Kumbum (Wylie: sku 'bum one hundred thousand holy images) is a multi-storied aggregate of Buddhist chapels in Tibetan Buddhism. The most famous Kumbum forms part of Palcho Monastery.
The first Kumbum was founded in the fire sheep year 1427[1] by a Gyantse prince. It has nine lhakangs or levels, is 35 metres (115 ft) high surmounted by a golden dome, and contains 77 chapels which line its walls. Many of the statues were damaged during the Cultural Revolution but have since been replaced with clay images, though they lack the artistic merit of the originals. The street life in Lhasa, the administrative capital of Tibet, China, mostly takes place around the Jokhang Temple, which is the religious center of Tibet. The proportion of Han Chinese in Lhasa is around 20%, which is mainly concentrated on the Inner City District Chengguan . Here, the proportion of Han Chinese is about 35%. Members of the army are not taken into account.
In Tibet, the everyday life and religion can barely be separated from each other, so that it does not astonish it that dealers, pilgrims and playing children casually mingle with the rest of the population.
