Heldrungen is a town in the Kyffhäuserkreis district, Thuringia, Germany. Nearby rivers are the Unstrut and the Wipper. It is known for its fortification with two water ditches, four vauban bastions and five rondells. In the center of the fortification is a renaissance castle, which was built from 1512 to 1518. Today, the castle is used as a youth hostel.

The Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, also known as the English Grounds of Wörlitz, is one of the first and largest English parks in Germany and continental Europe. It was created in the late 18th century under the regency of Duke Leopold III of Anhalt-Dessau , returning from a Grand Tour to Italy, the Netherlands, England, France and Switzerland he had undertaken together with his friend architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff. Both strongly influenced by the ideals of The Enlightenment, they aimed to overcome the formal garden concept of the Baroque era in favour of a naturalistic landscape as they had seen at Stourhead Gardens and Ermenonville. After my first day of work at my new Workaway stay in Germany, I went with a fellow Workawayer to the nearby town of Wasserburg. Wasserburg is a small but old town surrounded by a horseshoe-shaped river (Fluss Inn) than runs from the glaciers on mountains. With colorful and stunning architecture, an abundance of sculptures and art, and the beautiful periwinkle river, Wasserburg is the most adorable little town I've ever been to.

balloonalps 2018 in Zell am See-Kaprun

From 3rd until 10th February many hot-air ballons were hovering high above Zell am See-Kaprun during balloonalps. Across the mountians by hot-air ballon. During balloonalps passengers got the unique chance to take a passenger hot air ballon ride across the wintry Zell am See-Kaprun region. Highlight during this special week was the Night of balloons, where balloons illuminate the night sky.
